I have started a topic for the new Australian drama series on Ten, [b:c3b271fcc0]The Surgeon[/b:c3b271fcc0].

[b:c3b271fcc0][i:c3b271fcc0][u:c3b271fcc0]About The Show.[/u:c3b271fcc0][/i:c3b271fcc0][/b:c3b271fcc0]
Justine Clarke is Eve Agius, The Surgeon, a highly skilled woman alone in a male world. In 8 x 30mins episodes, medical cases filled with twists, turns and surprises test the limits of her skill and knowledge. The anaesthetists (Sam Worthington, Matt Newton, Christopher Morris) the other surgeons (Nicholas Bell) and the nursing staff (Katie Wall) all confront life, death and the intrusion of fate as everyday reality.

The Surgeon premieres on Thursday 13th October at 9:30pm on Ten.

I'll give it a go and watch the first episode as I like both Sam Worthington and Justine Carke, but I'am not expecting much especially with recent bad shows such as The Alice and Little Oberon.

Well I know an extra in the show, so I'm obviously going to be watching.

I'm not holding onto nay high hopes, but the commercials don't seem that bad.

I'll be watching it for Justine Clarke - she was great in [i:53bc563e49]Look Both Ways[/i:53bc563e49] - and the fact it's only a 30min show seems interesting considering it's about doctors. It'd be good to have something to watch on Thursdays again. 8)

It's medical dramas galore at the moment. But Channel 10 must not be brave enough to give it a full ratings premiere as it is being shown rather close to the end of ratings season. It will be interesting to see how it pans out. But only 8 eps, so they are really testing it out before going to far into a full season (we usually makes 12-15 eps in Australia don't we? Well, at least when we [i:16c52e8d05]used[/i:16c52e8d05] to make decent Australian drama. Been a bit light on this past 5 or so years) and rather short too. A bit of a new concept though. So, it does sound interesting.

I don't mind Justine Clarke though (been watching her on playschool lately LOL. My daughter's fave show), and Matthew Newton is in it too. He reminds me a bit of Jesse Spencer (not quite as pretty) and now he too is playing a very young doctor. Anyway, with that cast it should be worth a look at least.
The Doctor: People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect... but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly.... timey-wimey.... stuff.

It looks good doesn't it, I always give aussie drama's a go. I just hope it is not your average medical drama, I want there to be something more, something new about it. Not just problem / solution type show.

If there is nothing else on I may watch it, but being Aussie I don't expect much. (I honestly tried "The Alice" and "Last Man Standing" but was sooooo bored by them.)

The only Aussie shows I watch (apart from news & game shows) are All Saints, Neighbours occasionally, and Border Security. IMHO the rest just stink.

p.s. I wonder if it is a bit of a rip-off of Grey's Anatomy??? (Hopefully not, otherwise it has no chance. Grey's is fantastic. So hopefully "The Surgeon" will take a different approach)

That is the impression that I got from the ads as well.

to be honest I wasn't even going to give it a chance and watch the first episode but since I found out it is in a 30 minute format I am interested again.

There are so many medical shows out there these days that you really have to have something special to stand out. We shall see.

Well, I was wondering of it was a rip off of House at the promo was even shown during House. Not a good juxtapostion to promote a new show that is of the same genre as the one currently airing
