The third incarnation of [i:a4f521d8ca]Late Night[/i:a4f521d8ca] premieres on 3 March. Like the O'Brien version this Fallon version will air weeknights at 11.15pm on [i:a4f521d8ca]The Comedy Channel[/i:a4f521d8ca].

Predictions?

If O'Brien's first show years ago is anything to go by Fallon will be a nervous wreck during his first show :P

Unless, the ratings drop by an absolute unretainable score, I really think NBC need to give him at least a year.

The poor guy is stepping into the seat of a legend - one who last held it for 16 years.

Like you said, O'Brien's first stint was a disaster, but eventually opinions changed and new viewers tuned in.

If NBC can keep some faith, I'm pretty sure Fallon will be a good choice for perhaps another decade.

Leno isn't retiring, he's moving to prime time to host the tentatively titled [i:2a309dc100]The Jay Leno Show[/i:2a309dc100].

He was retiring until he changed his mind and now has gotten himself a prime time gig!

I think NBC will definently give Jimmy a year considering how Conan has turned out. They were renewing his contract every couple of weeks at the start.

I'm looking forward to seeing Jimmy and Conan being the late night guys :)

What did everyone think?

It wasn't that bad..... :silenced:

So it was a little rocky but that was expected. His opening monologue was okay and he came up with a few quick witted jokes of his own. So that was promising.

The house band, The Roots, were great and I like the new fresh image. But then again it is a little SNL how they've done it e.g. the set, opening credits.

Robert De Niro didn't look happy and he didn't really help Jimmy out as far as getting a great interview. I mean the guy was nervous and it was his first interview. I know De Niro was just doing his whole "grumpy and unimpressed" bit but you only do that with a seasoned interviewer.

Justin Timberlake was good. But I felt Jimmy got abit lost during that interview. I think JT was a great guest for his first night because of course he could joke around and he helped Jimmy out.

I used to hate JT but I have to admit the guy is a musical genius and a good all round performer. I loved his impressions of Barry Gibb and John Mayer.

All in all it was not a bad debut!
:D
