Exec-produced by the Anchorman team (inc. Will Ferrell, who guest-starred in ep 2), starring Danny McBride (Tropic Thunder) and John Hawkes (Deadwood).

It's crude, stupid, dumb, broad, and frequently, horribly mean-spirited.

But, God help me, it makes me laugh. Political correctness be damned.

It's a guilty pleasure, but a pleasure nonetheless.

So says I.

So no one else into this show? :eh:

Strange shift in tone for the third ep. Not hilarious (they even stole an Arrested Development gag!) but interesting. Threw a little bit of poignancy/drama into the mix.

Some interesting relationship dynamics too...

The whole assistant thing makes me cringe more than laugh, but am keen to see what follows anyways.

It's Trailer Park Boys, but not nearly as well done.

I have watched half of the first episode but was tired so didn't finish it. Shall watch it again on the weekend with episode 2 and 3.

Episode 4 was an absolute cracker.

Must just be me, but McBride telling his 'date' she dresses like a "f***ing dickhead"; and then trying to pass off this 'date' (i.e. prostitute) as a master painter from France, makes me laugh heartily.

The ever-chirpy Kevin Rudd look-a-like amuses me too.

And my god is Katie Mixon sexy! :D

Definately an acquired taste, but good stuff.

BRILLIANT final episode.

This show really did have a similar feel to those Will Ferrell/Ben Stiller underdog comedy movies, where on the brink of defeat they come back and fight their way to victory.

Except that here...the final few minutes [i:463a94449f]completely[/i:463a94449f] defy that formula.

Very interesting intro/title sequece too. Assuming you're a heterosexual male, of course. :P

It was inconsistent at times, but at it's best it was damn hilarious, and, occassionally (including in this finale), strangely poignant too.

I'm definately a fan. Here's hoping for season 2.

I watched Season 1 the other night, all 6 episodes ;)

I quite enjoyed it. love the way he talks in front of people, especially kids. didn't know much about the show beforehand, just that it was about baseball. didn't know the guy from Deadwood was in it which was a surprise and enjoyed the Will Ferrell and Craig Fergison cameos. the pilot was my favorite ep and the ending to episode 5. Danny McBride is the reason to watch the show, the character just doesn't care about anyone else but himself.

I watched the first 6 episodes while I was in the US recently. Didn't go beyond that. I find that Danny McBride is funny, but only in small doses. Might be able to handle an episode a week if 7Mate keeps it going.

The first season has an absolute rip-snorter of a finale. Totally unexpectedly poignant and takes you completely by surprise in it's audacity.

I would say it's worth sticking with just for that.

Assuming you can make it through the gratuitous coarse language, violence and nudity, that is. ;)
