[b:8c85d157a1] Wallace and Gromit in 'A Matter of Loaf and Death' (2008) [/b:8c85d157a1] aired last night on ABC, it was a world premier since the Brits want to air it closer to Christmas for larger ratings. We might as well have done the same, wasn't a super ratings winner here unfortunately. And ironically, if you share the same opinion as I do, it was the best W&G outing yet. Love Fluffles. Loved Gromit's expression after Wallace asks him if he's "fruit-cakey".
Anyone else see it and like it?

Aww... I didn't get to see it. Is it being repeated on ABC2 at all?

Yes, ABC2 screens it at 8:10pm tonight.

I thought that it was excellent visually, but the story and charm wasn't quite up to par with the old shorts. Still quite good but it seemed too similar to A Close Shave. I'll have to watch it again before I judge it too harshly though.
Very good but not great.

I completely disagree. I felt that A Close Shave was a little bit boring, whereas this was just great from start to finish. I thought the storyline was really quite brilliant and the action scenes were jaw-dropping. I can't say that about A Close Shave!

Yes but as I'm sure you'd agree it sometimes feels good to tell people what's good and bad. :)

Really enjoyed this one. And if I'm not mistaken, there was no mention of cheese!

I find the W&G shorts to be more charming than funny, generally, but I am fond of them regardless.

I thought the second half of last night's episode however was quite funny, but I still maintain the movie is the high point of these two characters CV.

The witty British humour on display in the movie is just wonderful to behold.

How the same person/persons behind Curse of the WereRabbit made the atrociously unfunny Chicken Run is beyond me. :?

(Maybe I just don't like Mel Gibson...even in chicken form)

I hadn't seen A Matter of Loaf and Death before. I expected a lot after having seen the movie and A Close Shave. It didn't disappoint. :)
