[b:894cfd6d01]About the Show[/b:894cfd6d01]

An innovative and emotional new series, ‘In Treatment’ brings dynamic focus to a staple of modern society – the psychotherapy session. Adapted from a popular Israeli series, the show follows psychoanalyst Paul Weston through his week, capturing a session each night with his patients – Laura, Alex, Sophie and married couple Jake and Amy – before concluding each Friday in the office of Paul’s own therapist, Gina. Stepping inside the tangled mind of a man who counsels others for a living, ‘In Treatment’ renders an intricate portrayal of the experts we rely on for perspective.

'In Treatment' is based on the Series "Be 'Tipul" created by Hagai Levi with Ori Sivan & Nir Bergman. Writers for the "Be 'Tipul" series include Yael Hedaya, Ari Fulman, Nir Bergman, Daphna Levin, Asaf Zippor.

Executive-produced by Hagai Levi, Rodrigo Garcia, Steve Levinson and Mark Wahlberg, ‘In Treatment’ stars Gabriel Byrne (“The Usual Suspects,” “Vanity Fair”) as Paul, Josh Charles (“Sports Night,” “Four Brothers”) as Jake, Embeth Davidtz (“Schindler’s List,” “Junebug”) as Amy, Melissa George (“Alias,” “30 Days of Night”) as Laura, Blair Underwood (“L.A. Law,” “Dirty Sexy Money”) as Alex, Mia Wasikowska (“Suburban Mayhem”) as Sophie, Dianne Wiest (Oscar® winner for “Hannah and Her Sisters” and “Bullets over Broadway”) as Dr. Gina Toll and Michelle Forbes (“Kalifornia,” “Battlestar Galactica: Razor”) as Paul’s wife Kate.

It is on 5 nights a week on HBO and looks very interesting :)

Can't wait to check it out. I love Melissa George, Michelle Forbes and Dianne Weist so it should be great to see more of them in a Cable show with less boundaries and 'decency' restrictions ;)

Thank you VMars!! :P

My brother who is a training Psychiatrist, will definitely like this show. ATM, the only medical drama he watches is "House, M.D."

I will start downloading on Friday.

Nope definitely NOT a soap opera.

I have watched the first 2 installments and was blown away by them.

The whole 26 minutes plays out between the 2 characters and is just talking.

But Melissa George in the first episode was phenomenal. She brought so much depth, emotion and drama to the role. I was stunned.

I recommend any one who is looking for soemthign a itle different and not gymaky checks out the first episode at least.

The second episode with Blair Underwood was great as well. But very different as it was more animated and hit different emotional strings.

Please tell me i am not alone in watching this?

It's interesting that it is a half hour episode. I've only just finish downloading as well.

Will wait till my brother watches it since it is directly related to his work! :P before I download the rest of last week's episodes. I DO NOT want to waste download space if he does not like the show. :)

I have watched all 5 episodes that are available - and I love this series. The performances are so honest and what makes them even more special is that each episode doesn't have any more than 3 characters in them. I love seeing how each patient shapes Paul's outlook on life.... you really get to appreciate the difficulty involved in being a therapist because of how the varied problems and issues (and they are not simple by any means) really affect not only those seeking help but also the person listening.

It may be a big call - especially since only 5 episodes have aired so far - but I think its my favourite new show for the 2007-2008 season. I have heard this show is not going to be on free to air here in Australia and I really think that is a great disappointment.

This show's on HBO, same with "Sex and the City" when it was on. Maybe this show belongs with Channel 9? :?

One doctor. Five Sessions. Five nights a week.

A new series from HBO launches in the US on Monday and looks set to create real buzz during the middle of the writer's strike. And Australia's Melissa George is the show's first guest star.

Based on an Israeli series, In Treatment stars Gabriel Byrne as a psychoanalyst who has thirty minute sessions with patients. Stripped as a 9:30pm show, Byrne chats to different guest stars four nights a week then on the fifth then becomes a patient to another analyst (Dianne Wiest) himself.

Strike or no strike the show has 7 weeks of 5 x 30 min eps that reviewers are already calling "highly addictive."

"I watched all seven weeks that HBO sent me (that's 35 episodes, people), one after the other, as fast as I could clear the room of my young children. I stayed up past midnight, grew hollow-eyed and pale, missed meals and refused to answer my cellphone or check my e-mail just so I could squeeze in another episode. It wasn't pretty, but it sure was fun," writes LA Times critic Mary McNamara.

In Treatment will screen in Australia on Showcase.
