Animated music clips add another dimension to the art of music, augmenting the subjective nature of the lyrics. There are some really good ones around. A recent discovery of mine is the surreal animation for [i:a2aa8a09ae]Hearts a Mess[/i:a2aa8a09ae] by animator and film clip director, Brendan Cook here.

Another fave is [i:a2aa8a09ae]Clint Eastwood[/i:a2aa8a09ae] by Gorillaz.

(A little trivia quiz question: Can anyone tell me why the song is titled Clint Eastwood?)

What are your favourite animated music clips, and why? Are there some real [i:a2aa8a09ae]WTF?[/i:a2aa8a09ae] doozies that leave you scratching your head, or some that add another dimension to the subjective nature of the lyrics, and give you food for thought?

They called it that because it has a sample from the film 'The Good, The Bad, And the Ugly' which starred Clint Eastwood.

My favourite animated music clip would be Dare by Gorillaz, and Feel Good Inc by Gorillaz is pretty good too. They're not so much thought-provoking as entertaining though. In the 'Dare' clip, the guys lips are out of sync with the lyrics a lot, it's kinda annoying to watch, lol.

Röyksopp have a few animated music clips (one of them winning the Best Video award in the 2002 MTV Europe Music Awards), but my favourite one would have to be [i:58d596d1ce]Poor Leno[/i:58d596d1ce]. The polar bear looks so cute, nodding its head in time to the song. ^_^ As does Leno when he hits his cup with a spoon.
I also like Infusion's [i:58d596d1ce]Natural[/i:58d596d1ce], which is directed by James Littlemore. Love the boxbirds and the ending. :D

Oh yes, I like those... 8)

Here's a couple more: Virtual band Mistula's fusion of music, graphic art, literature, photography and other art forms, built around themes of Catholic idolatry and cultural commentary encapsulated in [i:a571e308aa]Mulat[/i:a571e308aa], and Pearl Jam's highly political [i:a571e308aa]Do The Evolution[/i:a571e308aa] speaks for itself.

That's right, Jimmy, they used the same haunting musical refrain. Goldie for you. 8)

The already mentioned Do The Evolution is a great one. Not a Pearl Jam fan but like that one.

Besides that the clip for Paranoid Android by Radiohead is brilliant. Also Take On Me by AHA,great song ,better clip.
