Awesome News!! a long overdue sequel will be coming, maybe more then one. It seems it was all rights issues holding them up from making another from Warner and Paramount. It may or may not be a sequel to the 2009 remake, hopefully since its going back to Paramount it'll be to the original series. here's the article -

Paramount Gets Rights Back To Friday The 13th Films! New Friday within 5 years?

Many Friday The 13th fans have been wondering what the long delay is with the Friday The 13th sequel that so many people want to see happen. Delays and rights issues seemed to be at the forefront of the problems, but some huge news just broke today that lends a little insight into why! Check out the bomb that the Hollywood Reporter just dropped on everyone.

When Paramount and Warner Bros. teamed up on Christopher Nolan’s latest movie project,Interstellar, in January, some wondered how Warners made its way on board a project set up at a rival studio.

Now, months later,The Hollywood Reporter has learned more about the price that Warners had to pay in exchange for half the Nolan project. The cast of characters includes Friday the 13th villain Jason Voorhees as well as the foul-mouthed kids from South Park.

Warners, which released Nolan’s megagrossing Batman movies and maintains an overall deal with his Syncopy label, wanted in on Interstellar so badly it gave Paramount its rights to co-finance the next Friday the 13th horror film as well as its portion of a future South Park movie. Also part of the deal was an agreement to let Paramount co-finance a to-be-determined A-list Warners property.

Warner Bros. and Paramount declined to comment on the arrangement.

However, there is a catch: Sources say Paramount only enjoys the rights for both titles for the next five years and has that amount of time to make follow-up movies.

This is huge! I bet we see a new Friday The 13th film coming very, very soon with Paramount having a 5 year window to fully finance their own Friday The 13th film!

that's stupid, I can understand not making a sequel to the original series but another reboot already?!

so 3 Friday the 13th movies with that title with the same character of Jason Voorhees, why not just make a sequel to the 2009 remake and go from there, do a different story and not have any connection to the original movies or the remake. it can still be classified as a sequel, they often ignore previous sequels anyway.

I wouldn't call it Friday the 13th, how about 'Jason Voorhees' ?

they have obtained the rights back for the series, but only for 5 years so they could make 3, so what's the point?!

they might as well just continue from where they left off in 2009!

this has been pushed back from March to November next year.

makes sense, we haven't heard any new info on casting, filming or story.

sucks though, was really looking forward to seeing Jason back on the big screen!

this just keeps getting pushed back.

was wondering what is going on with this project and found its now coming out May 2016!

no info other then that on the story, setting, time period or anything.

really sucks, hadn't heard anything new for ages so it was expected though.

guess what, been delayed again. the word is the new date is January 13th 2017 instead of May 2016! :(

they seem to be having a hard time coming up with a new take on the series, how hard is it to come up with an idea really?! just make it a sequel to the 2009 one with no returning characters, give some backstory, have new campers and Jason returns to kill them off.

they had a 5 year window to come up with as many movies as they can, and they can't even come up with 1!

in other news, we are getting a video game where you can play as Jason!

That's a pity about the delay but at least it has not been canceled I guess. The video game sounds cool!
