TMT wrote:Rumor: David Goyer Penning "Man of Steel" Sequel

Reports surfaced over the last few weeks, specifically yesterday outta the offices of JoBlo and Slashfilm on Zack Snyder's cinematic reintroduction to Superman, The Man of Steel.

Yes, it's screened to select crowds. Friends & Family, different levels of execs, and the filmmakers themselves have taken a gander at what Snyder hath wroth. And yes, the word is good. The range of positive varies. One trusted source liked it, with reservations, while another exclaimed it as downright "AMAZING" (their exact words – all caps included). Regardless of how good, it is good and high-ups at Burbank are walking on clouds like Kal-El. Now the question leading up to June 14 is, "Great... and then what?"

We all know Warner Brothers/DC Entertainment can't get their house in order. The narrative for the longest has been they'll wait and see how the Supes redo does. Then they'll make their move. All the talk has been pumping adrenaline into Justice League and have that out by 2015 – a non-subtle way of countering The Avengers 2. A tall order with no director within walking distance and the most recent script, by Gangster Squad typist-turned-WB Golden Boy Will Beall tossed faster than a speeding bullet. It's doable – just looking less likely by each passing day.

Some rumblings suggest Justice League remains the priority, others suggest it's on hold. Rumor we're hearing, and frankly the one that makes the most sense – hence the article you're reading, has the studio aiming their tractor beams at a Superman sequel. Whatever title they bestow upon it (The Man of Tomorrow? The Last Son of Krypton? It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman Two?) the studio is accelerating it into development with David Goyer back on writing duties. Script problems, be damned! Goes to show how tensions disappear in the face of success or in this case, confidence there is success to be had.

Yeah, yeah I know. "Didn't you guys say they were looking at a bunch of writers who weren't Goyer like two years ago?" Correctamundo. They were spit-balling ideas. Execs do that – for the kind of cash they pocket that’s all they do besides li'l things like overseeing productions and making sure they keep their jobs upon the latest regime change.

So if Superman's return (again) to the multiplexes delivers (All signs are good), WB, to their credit, is thinking smart. Supes is here to stay. For real this time.

I know its just a rumor but I believe we are getting a sequel then the JLA. And as the article says "Supes is here to stay" gladly. :D

Warner Bros issued the following press release shortly after the panel’s conclusion.

BURBANK, CA, July 20, 2013 – On the heels of the worldwide success of “Man of Steel,” director Zack Snyderis bringing together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time—Batman and Superman—for the first time on the big screen. The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution,Warner Bros. Pictures.
The current hit, “Man of Steel,” has taken in more than $630 million at the worldwide box office to date, and climbing. Along with its star, Henry Cavill, the upcomingfilm brings back Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. The new Batman has yet to be cast.

Snyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay. Production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date inSummer 2015.

Silverman stated, “Zack Snyder is an incredibly talented filmmaker, but beyond that, he’s a fan first and he utterly gets this genre. We could not think of anyone better suited to the task of bringing these iconic Super Heroes to the screen in his own way.” Kroll added, “We are thrilled to be back in business with Zack and his team on this next movie. The success of ‘Man of Steel’ is a wonderful testament to the love and support that both fans and new audiences, worldwide, have for these characters. We are very excited to see what Zack has in store for all of us.”
Diane Nelson, President, DC Entertainment, noted,“Superman and Batman together on the big screen is a dream come true for DC fans everywhere. All of us at DCEntertainment could not be more excited for Zack’s continuing vision for the DC Universe.”

Zack Snyder, who made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con today, breaking the news to audiences there, later said, “I’m so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can’t wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter. Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world.”

The new film brings back Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder as producers. This time, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers, along with Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan.
Thomas offered, “Whilst our ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy is complete, we have every confidence that Zack’s fresh interpretation will take the character in a new and exciting direction. His vision for Superman opened the door to a whole new universe and we can’t wait to see what Zack does with these characters.”

The film is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, and Batman characters created by Bob Kane, published by DC Entertainment.

Good to see that WB/DC have decided not to rush with the Justice League movie and rather test the waters with a Superman/Batman movie first - it really makes the most sense to have their 2 most popular characters in a movie rather than worrying about the other DC heroes who most mainstream movie goers wont care about. Case in point Green Lantern.

When it was announced that Batman will be part of "Man of Steel 2," fans immediately started naming actors who they believe would be perfect for the role. Hollywood studios usually listen to those suggestions, but then goes in the complete opposite direction, which is why Ben Affleck was cast as Batman.

But would Warner Bros go so far as to cast Justin Bieber as Robin in "Man of Steel 2"? The singer just posted a photo on his Instagram page of himself holding the script for the movie. His name written across the cover. Along with the photo, Bieber wrote: "#robin??"

Check out the photo below and let us know if you believe Warner Bros actually wants Bieber in the movie.

Frell me!!!

If Frelling Bieber gets cast in this film then that is the last straw for this version of Superman or Batman for that matter. I was willing to stand Ben Affleck as Bats but this is unforgivable. I will not support this one bit. :X

 Youve been fooled Kal! Nothing more than just an internet prank from a pre-pubescent irrelevant teen singer. The script for this movie is still being written or being worked on at the moment, so any characters from Robin to Lex Luthor appearing in this movie are purely speculation at this point.

 Fair enough. Gladly the casting process has turned out a bit better.

Seriously this is Justice League is disguise... This is the worst part of "Smallville" all over again, jam everyone in and have Superman as a glorified guest star.

Worst Previews wrote:Amy Adams Worried Wonder Woman Will Create Love Triangle in "Batman vs Superman"

Now that we know that Gal Gadot (Fast and Furious) will be playing Wonder Woman in "Batman vs Superman," there's a possibility that Superman and Wonder Woman may end up a couple, especially since the Wonder Woman character was first described as a love interest.

During a new interview, Amy Adams was asked about how she would feel if there was a love triangle between Superman, Wonder Woman and Lois Lane (Adams). "I hope that I can be involved with a woman on screen where we're not in a love triangle," she replied. "That would be fun. Maybe where we team up together and we work as teammates instead of adversaries."

Worst Previews wrote:Jason Momoa May Play Martian the Manhunter in "Batman vs Superman"

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian, Bullet to the Head) is in talks to join the cast of "Batman vs Superman" in an undisclosed role.

Even though the newspaper couldn't confirm Momoa's potential role, there are rumors he may play the villainous Doomsday or The Martian Manhunter, a shape-shifting telepathic alien that was one of the key members of the Justice League.

"Batman vs Superman" is directed by Zack Snyder and is set to hit theaters on July 17th, 2015.

Superhero Hype wrote:Joaquin Phoenix Sought for Batman vs. Superman Role!

Joaquin Phoenix could very soon be headed to DC Comics' big screen universe. Variety reports that Warner Bros. is very keen on casting the Her star for Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman vs. Superman, likely in the role of the sequel's central villain, which has long been rumored to be Lex Luthor.

Batman vs. Superman will feature the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, facing off against Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. In addition, the film will mark the big screen debut of Wonder Woman as played by Gal Gadot.

Following a brief break from acting as part of the preparation for his quasi-documentary I'm Still Here, Phoenix returned to the big screen for Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master last year. In addition to Spike Jonze's Her, which hits theaters in a limited release this week, Phoenix can be seen coming up in Anderson's Thomas Pynchon adaptation, Inherent Vice.

Production on Batman vs. Superman will begin early next year at the Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac where it will occupy all seven sound stages on the lot in addition to several locations around the state. Also starring Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne, the Zack Snyder-directed Batman vs. Superman hits theaters on July 17, 2015.

Batman vs. Superman will feature the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, facing off against Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. In addition, the film will mark the big screen debut of Wonder Woman as played by Gal Gadot.

Worst Previews wrote:Gal Gadot's First Comments on Playing Wonder Woman in "Batman vs Superman"

Earlier this month, it was revealed that "Fast Five" actress Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman in "Batman vs Superman." And now, the actress has sat down for her first interview (translated from Hebrew) to discuss the movie.

"It's the physical preparations that I'm starting now," said Gadot. "A very serious training regimen – Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian. A thousand and one things. I’ll gain body mass."

She went on to comment about her smaller physique, which fans have criticized as being wrong for Wonder Woman. "I represent the Wonder Woman of the new world," she explained. "Breasts anyone can buy for $9,000 and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is Amazonian, and historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I'd really go 'by the book,' it’d be problematic."

Meanwhile, Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman on TV from 1975 to 1979, was asked if it will be strange to see another actress playing the superhero. "I don't think so. It was a long time ago," she replied. "I care more about the character continuing than holding on to my piece of it. I hope she has fun with it."

When asked about how she feels regarding Wonder Woman being in a film that already has Batman and Superman, Carter said: "Maybe that's better. She won't have to carry the whole film. It takes the pressure off. I wish her well. I'm just glad she's going to be out there again. Maybe she'll get her own show again."

Worst Previews wrote:"Batman vs Superman" to Spend $131 Million in Just Michigan

The Inquisitr reached out to the Michigan Film Office, which revealed that "Batman vs Superman" will soon be coming to Detroit where a whopping $131 million will be spent.

The quote came from Michelle Grinnell, a public relations manager for the film office. Grinnell added that the production, which will create 6,000 jobs in the struggling city, is the largest to be filmed in Michigan. The previous record went to "OZ the Great and Powerful," which was shot in the state in 2011.

With "Batman vs Superman," the plan is to not only shoot inside of a studio, but also on location, which means that local Detroit fans will get to see Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck as Superman and Batman.

Regarding the budget... That $131 million will be spent just in Michigan and that likely doesn't count any special effects work. "Man of Steel" shot in numerous states and countries. So it's possible that the actual budget of "Batman vs Superman" is double that, if not more.

Worst Previews wrote:Denzel Washington Considered for Green Lantern in "Batman vs Superman"?

Several weeks ago, there was a rumor that Warner Bros is planning to use Lex Luthor in "Batman vs Superman" and is looking at black actors to play the role. At the top of the list was Denzel Washington.

Now, there's a new rumor from Nuke The Fridge, claiming that Washington is actually being considered for the role of John Stewart, better known as Green Lantern. There have been plenty of comments coming out of Warner Bros that Green Lantern will make appearance in either "Batman vs Superman" and/or "Justice League," but are they really considering a 59-year-old actor to play the superhero?

"Batman vs Superman" is set to go into production early next year and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17th, 2015.
