Worst Previews wrote:Bill Hader to Play David Hasselhoff's Character in "Baywatch" Movie

Back in September, it was reported that Robert Ben Garant (Ball of Fury, Reno 911!: Miami) was hired to direct the upcoming "Batywatch" movie from a script by Peter Tolan (Analyze This, "Rescue Me").

Now comes word that Bill Hader ("Saturday Night Live") is in final negotiations play David Hasselhoff's character in the film, which contains cameos for Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. There's no word whether the actors will return. "Never! I'm not going to do it," Anderson said about a "Baywatch" movie in 2009.

The plot follows lifeguards exploring an oil rig off the Malibu coast that turns out to be a meth lab. "[Paramount Pictures is] so excited they made us shoot a trailer and the script isn't even done," said Garant.

Collider wrote:Yes, Really: Dwayne Johnson to Lead the BAYWATCH Movie

Dwayne Johnson has aptly been labeled “franchise steroids” for his ability to revitalize series like The Fast and the Furious, G.I. Joe, and even Journey to the Center of the Earth with his incredible charisma and screen presence. This will be put to the ultimate test very soon, as THR now reports that Johnson is attached to star in the Baywatch movie for Paramount Pictures. Moreover, the writing team of Sean Anders and John Morris have come aboard to direct the film after making their helming debut on the upcoming comedy Horrible Bosses 2.

Per THR, Johnson is now loosely attached to star in Paramount’s Baywatch movie as the studio is moving forward with the film by hiring Justin Malen to do a script rewrite and Anders and Morris to direct. The feature film adaptation of the delightfully cheesy 1990s TV series about pretty lifeguards running in slow motion has been in development at the studio for years, with Reno 911!’s Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant penning the previous screenplay. Garant was also attached to helm a few years ago, but the project has thus far failed to move forward.

I actually kind of love the idea of Dwayne Johnson toplining a Baywatch movie. He has proven to be formidable comedic presence in films like Pain & Gain and The Other Guys, and there’s no denying that the guy looks pretty great shirtless. Additionally, he’s a swell action star so if Paramount wants to turn this into a franchise, Johnson could easily slip into Baywatch Nights mode. The actor’s most recent film, Hercules, failed to take off at the box office, but he has Fast & Furious 7 and the disaster film San Andreas on tap and is set to make his superhero debut in Warner Bros.’ Shazam movie.

It’s unclear how soon Baywatch might be ready to go, but Paramount seems to have put together a pretty solid team so assuming everyone takes a liking to Malen’s script, it’s possible this could go before cameras sometime next year. Just remember, some people stand in the darkness…

Ha! This film might actually work now.. Michael Bay will be perfect for this, Bad Boys, Pain and Gain and now Baywatch. Perfect.

Not the worst trailer I've ever seen. :)
Always like the Rock, and Zac is good eye candy.

just saw it, wasn't too bad.

I liked it a tad more then I thought, not the best comedy ever but enjoyable. I laughed more then I thought, good music too. sure it's another one of those movies based on TV shows, but it's a decent one. I saw Chips earlier this year and that wasn't that good. it's a trend of TV based movies with content not like the atavistic shows, Chips, 21 Jump Street. the cameos were ok but the Hasselhoff one was random, not sure if he was meant to be the same character even though he had the same name as the show. Pam Anderson looks terrible, doesn't look like how she used to at all. mindless fun, the funny moments I've forgotten though so it's kind of forgettable I guess.

I'm sure there will be a sequel.
