We already know that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter have been developing a third "Bill and Ted" installment. Original "Bill and Ted" creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson have been writing the script and now comes word that the new movie has a director.

NY Mag has learned that Dean Parisot (RED 2, Fun with Dick and Jane, Galaxy Quest) is in talks to direct. The plan is to make a sequel for the price of a comedy like "Hot Tub Time Machine," which cost $36 million.

MGM owns the rights to the franchise, but is not willing to finance the entire budget. As a result, the project is being shopped around to other studios. But even if all the money is raised, "Bill and Ted 3" will still have to wait for Parisot to finish shooting the upcoming "RED" sequel, which goes into production this spring.

what do you mean? Im sure Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves will still play Bill and Ted, just dealing with grown up issues and such.

but to the news that this is moving along I have one word to say about it.... EXCELLENT!! :)
and also to the news it won't be moving along until Red 2 is done... Bogus :(

It was just announced that Dean Parisot (RED 2, Fun with Dick and Jane, Galaxy Quest) has signed on to direct the third "Bill and Ted" film. And now, in an interview with GQ magazine, Keanu Reeves has offered a few plot details.

"One of the plot points is that these two people have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world," he explained. "And they haven't done it. So everybody is kind of like: 'Where is the song?; The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock."

Reeves continued: "And we go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future 'us' refuses to tell us, and another future 'us' blames us for their lives because we didn't write the song, so they're living this terrible life. In one version we're in jail; in another we're at some kind of highway motel and they hate us."

sounds like a interesting approach to a sequel and makes sense.

The 1st they went back in time, the 2nd they went to hell and back and the 3rd they go to the future.

I'm up for it and am really looking forward to it, grew up on th e other 2 movies and have watched em so many times!

hope this does well, cause I would love a fourth one too!

I know what u mean, today's young audience wouldn't be too familiar with the first 2 movies.

all I hope is that it goes theatrical, I'm betting it'll be in 3D though if so.

From what I can tell from Keanu's description of the 3rd film is that it's meant for only those who grew up with the first two. It's the only way you can make this film work without rebooting it. Looking forward to it because it does seem intriguing for me. ;)

And I do have to say that being 22 I suppose I'm part of the "young audience". I don't think everything needs a reboot, it's tiring and disappointing. Yes there are exceptions but it should be avoidable at all costs. This film reminds me of my childhood, gameboy's, N64, power rangers... good times. I'd definitely go to the cinemas for this for sure.

Oh.. I want a "Saved By The Bell" reunion film now. 8-)

I'm almost 30 (I can pass for 20) and I grew up watching Bill and Ted, watched them all the time.

Pity this wasn't made in the 90s or early 00s, cause I don't think many people are fussed if this is made or not.
