You got 2017 right Cyborg. ;) Might be 2018 though.

TMT wrote:Zack Snyder Confirmed to Save Cinema with 'Justice League'; Plans Revealed

Warner Brothers has dropped a pretty big bomb-shell on this quiet Sunday afternoon courtesy of The Wall Street Journal, confirming the obvious that cinematic visionary Zack Snyder will be directing Justice League as well as confirming they have other films in the works from DC/Vertigo.

Speaking with Warner Bro's President of Worldwide Production, Greg Silverman:

"Like “Man of Steel” and its follow-up, which starts production next month, “Justice League” will be directed by Zack Snyder. Henry Cavill is expected to return as Superman, along with Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, who play Batman and Wonder Woman, respectively, in 2016’s “Man of Steel” sequel tentatively titled “Batman vs. Superman.”

“It will be a further expansion of this universe,” said Mr. Silverman. “’Superman vs Batman’ will lead into ‘Justice League.’”"

A script for Justice League is supposedly in development, and the article notes that the film doesn't have a set release date but is un-likely to be before 2018 (which would be two years after the Untitled Batman vs Superman film.

In terms of other DC films coming out:

"Warner Bros. has several other movies in development unconnected to the Justice League that are based on DC superheroes and fantasy and crime titles from its Vertigo line of genre comics, said Mr. Silverman and Toby Emmerich, president of Warner’s New Line Cinema label. They include “Shazam,” “Metal Men,” “100 Bullets,” and “Fables.”"

Also for the angry nerd crowds who have been parroting the "Marvel got a talking raccoon before DC got Wonder-Woman":

"And while there are no plans yet for a “Justice League” spinoff featuring Ms. Gadot’s “Wonder Woman,” Warner executives said they are warm to the idea.

“That is our hope,” said Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing. “With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her.”"

Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, and Ray Fisher line up the heroes announced so far, with Jesse Eisenberg set to tackle the role of Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film which is set to release Summer 2016.

Obviously Snyder directing Justice League shouldn't be a shock, especially after seeing how well he has previously handled a grounded and more adult themed super-hero team with 2009's masterpiece WATCHMEN.

It's purely a bad time for Superman but wonderful for the DC Universe as a whole.

And I'm pretty certain SHAZAM is Dwayne Johnson's (The Rock) movie.

Worst Previews wrote:"Justice League" to be Released in 2017, Matt Damon Considered for Aquaman?

In a new in Wall Street Journal article we just learned that Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) will return to direct "Justice League," which he'll work on after "Batman vs Superman." Now, a few more details are coming out.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Warner Bros has an aggressive plan for "Justice League." It turns out that Snyder will shoot "Batman vs Superman" and "Justice League" back-to-back. And even though WSJ wrote that "Justice League" will likely not be released before 2018, THR says that 2017 is looking very possible.

Meanwhile, The Wrap is reporting on a rumor that Matt Damon is being considered for the role of Aquaman in "Justice League." We have yet to get a confirmation that the superhero will appear in the film, but Badass Digest says that early drafts of the script do contain Aquaman, who is reimagined as more of a barbarian.

Worst Previews wrote:Jason Momoa is Aquaman in "Justice League"

Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian, "Game of Thrones") has been rumored to play Aquaman in "Justice League" for a while, but during every interview, he keeps denying the story, joking that he's a very random person to end up in a blonde wig.

Now comes word from HitFix that Momoa will indeed play Aquaman in both "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Justice League." This doesn't match up with the recent report that Aquaman will not show up in "Batman v Superman" and will be introduced in "Justice League." Either way, it seems that Aquaman has been cast.

Meanwhile, The Wrap is reporting that "Justice League" will also feature Martian Manhunter, Max Lord and Darkseid. Apparently this information came from an agency casting call.

While Warner Bros has yet to confirm any of this, the studio is expected to start announcing movies and cast members during Comic-Con next month.

Superman Homepage wrote:Rumored WB Movie Schedule Includes "Man of Steel 2" in 2018

NikkiFinke.com claims to have received word that Warner Bros. is planning to announce their comic book movie schedule through to 2018 at Comic Con in San Diego next month... with "Man of Steel 2" set for May 2018.

The reported schedule is as follows:

May 2016 – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

July 2016 – Shazam (Dwayne Johnson?)

December 2016 – Sandman

May 5, 2017 – Justice League

July 2017 – Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot)

December 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up (Without Ryan Reynolds?)

May 2018 – Man of Steel 2

Like Marvel's The Avengers, there will be cameos of superheroes for future installments. The cameos will include the already known Cyborg and Flash. Green Lantern [not played by Ryan Reynolds, thank god] may be introduced. And Aquaman will be seen in the Justice League movie. Problem is, Warner Bros Pictures was still negotiating with the actors for those cameos and future roles, meaning major contracts for multiple JL/character films to follow. The studio didn't want to move forward until they had more of this secure so they held off starting production for a few months. Seemingly simple reason, but the implications are pretty darn huge.

Shocking.. 5 years to wait for a follow up to MOS. Hope they get Micheal Rosenbaum for the Flash. 8-)

Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian, "Game of Thrones") has been rumored to play Aquaman in "Justice League" for a while, but the actor has been denying any involvement with the film.

Then, just recently, HitFix confirmed that Momoa has been cast as Aquaman and will appear in both "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Justice League." So what does Momoa have to say about all this?

While he has yet to make a comment, he posted a photo on his Instagram account, holding a pitchfork. That pitchfork is likely a reference to Aquaman's trident. So is that a confirmation? Not likely, since the actor is also holding up a middle finger.

Check out the photo below and stay tuned for an official announcement, which should come during Comic-Con next month.

Yep... He's Aquaman. He would have been on Smallville if he wasn't on 'Stargate Atlantis'. 8-)

Superhero Hype wrote:Comic-Con: Batman v Superman Scribe Chris Terrio to Pen Justice League!

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Argo screenwriter Chris Terrio is being courted to write the Justice League film. Terrio re-wrote the screenplay for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which was previously written by David Goyer and has apparently impressed Warner Bros. Pictures enough that they’d like him to pen the follow-up film. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder is already attached to direct Justice League for the studio.

Although no Justice League cast is official at this stage, the project is likely to again star Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.

Though Justice League has no official release date, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will debut in theaters on May 6, 2016.

Awesome! 8-)

Collider wrote:Could the JUSTICE LEAGUE Release Date Come Soon After BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE?

The choice to uproot Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from its original May 6, 2016 date and put it back down in the March 25, 2016 slot could be a smart play. Going up against Captain America 3 wouldn’t have been good for either movie, and in 2012, The Hunger Games proved that March could be a lucrative spot. However, Warner Bros. also made another big release date announcement that’s a far riskier move – it announced dates for nine untitled DC films, essentially trying to set up a cinematic universe akin to what Marvel’s got going on right now.

So far, minus Batman v Superman, we don’t know much about what DC and Warner Bros. have coming up and how they’re planning to pull this off, but those details might emerge sooner than you think. In fact, there’s even a chance we’ll get the Justice League release date sooner, too!

In an article about the big Batman v Superman move over at EW, Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said that we will find out what some of those untitled DC films are later this month and, as paraphrased by EW, “that the first real Justice League adventure might be closer than you think.” The outlet then suggests that Warner Bros. could make use of the Batman v Superman hype by quickly following it up with a sequel that would introduce more classic characters fast. Fellman then replied:

“While it hasn’t been officially announced, I think it’s a pretty good bet.”

The studio does have a June 23, 2017 date on their list so perhaps there is a chance that Justice League could get it. Considering Marvel is so far along at this point, having such a short span of time between movies could actually help DC and Warner Bros. get the jumpstart they’ll need to make this ambitious schedule work.

It could work to jump start DC films but that is super rushed imo. :|

Collider wrote:DC Movie Rumors: Brainiac May Be the JUSTICE LEAGUE Villain, Plus SUICIDE SQUAD Lineup Revealed

While rumors abound about Marvel Studios’ big plans for its post-Avengers Age of Ultron slate, Warner Bros. continues to be focused on really knocking Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice out of the park. Man of Steel was a commercial success but not the astronomical phenomenon that WB was hoping for, and so their plans for the entire DC Movie Universe are on the line with Dawn of Justice. The studio laid out (some of) its cards recently when it announced release dates for nine untitled DC Comics adaptations. So far the only confirmed upcoming title we have is Justice League, which Zack Snyder will direct after BvS, but Warner Bros. added another film to that roster recently when we learned that Fury director David Ayer is being eyed to helm a Suicide Squad movie.

As production on Batman v Superman comes to an end, more concrete plans are being put together for the future DC Comics movies. A couple of new rumors have now surfaced from a fairly reputable source, claiming to reveal the Justice League movie villain and the characters that will make up the Suicide Squad team.

The folks over at Latino Review reported a couple of tidbits today about upcoming DC Comics adaptations. Firstly, they claim that Brainiac is being planned as the Big Bad for Justice League, which Argo and Batman v Superman scribe Chris Terrio is writing now. The outlet says that Brainiac comes into the equation when he senses the same beacon that drew General Zod to Earth in Man of Steel, though actual production on Justice League is still a long ways off so the script could evolve significantly before the film actually comes to fruition. Earlier rumors pegged Darkseid as the main villain for Justice League, but LR claims that Warner Bros. has opted to push his appearance to later in the DCU.

Additionally, Latino Review reports that the seven members of the Suicide Squad movie will be Deadshot, Harkness, Vixen, Blockbuster, Multiplex, Jaculi, and Mindblogger, with the first three acting as the film’s leads. That comic is like a darker version of Justice League, focusing on a group of supervillains.

Again and as with all rumors, none of this is confirmed and what’s true today may not be true tomorrow. We know that early iterations of Guardians of the Galaxy didn’t include the character of Rocket Raccoon, and so when a director becomes firmly attached to Suicide Squad, that lineup may shift a bit. With regards to Justice League, I imagine Terrio is working closely with Snyder while the two are on the Batman v Superman set, so Brainiac’s involvement seems like a safer bet. I don’t know much about the character but he seems like as good a baddie as any to unite the various characters of the DC Universe.

With so many titles unconfirmed on Warner Bros.’ slate, I do hope we start to get some official announcements soon. I understand they’re intently focused on making Batman v Superman the best film it can be—and if that movie doesn’t work it could throw the entire DCU plan out of whack—but I imagine they’re starting to make some serious moves with regards to moving these planned projects closer to reality. They’ve already cast Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and who knows who else to appear in BvS, so now it’s time to start lining up the filmmakers that will bring their individual stories to fruition.

I can see why WB wanted to start with Superman then branch out with the rest of the JLA. Brainiac is primarily a Superman villain due to being created on Krypton so this whole endeavor by Warner's could work out. If this rumor is true then this will be "Man of Steel 3 with friends".

In 'Smallville' Brainiac arrived on the same ship that brought the Kryptonian rogues. So Zach Snyder could be taking this route.

WB can still get James Marsters if they want:

Collider wrote:Zack Snyder Set to Direct Two JUSTICE LEAGUE Movies

The Warner Bros. and DC news continues to pour in. We just found out that Justice League will make its way into theaters in 2017 and that Justice League 2 will follow it up in 2019, but DC Entertainment just sent out an official press release with more information on the films.

Zack Snyder will direct both of them, which the press release refers to as Justice League Part One and Justice League Part Two. On top of that, it also confirms that Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams will all reprise their roles for Justice League Part One, but makes no mention of their involvement in Justice League Part Two.

This information comes from Warner Bros.’ Chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara who said that the studio’s aggressive strategy with all of its properties is geared towards upping profits and also “doubling down on outstanding content, working with the best talent and maintaining the culture that makes Warner Bros. so great.” He also added this:

“The demand for high quality video content is growing fast – in the United States and around the world – as new technologies have created new platforms and millions of new connected consumers. The opportunity is huge. And no studio is better positioned to take advantage of it than Warner Bros.”

This is bound to be quite the undertaking for Snyder. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is due in theaters on March 25, 2016 and if Justice League Part One is coming a year later and then Justice League Part Two just two years after that, the guy’s going to be living and breathing Batman, Superman and more DC heroes 24/7 for five years at least.

And of course that begs the question, which other DC heroes could he be working with? The new release dates certainly give hints. We’ve got the Wonder Woman movie coming in 2017, The Flash and Aquaman in 2018, Shazam in 2019 and, on top of that, there’s a Cyborg movie and a Green Lantern reboot in the works, too. Sounds like a Justice League line-up right there to me.
