 OH, DEAR GOD NO :x

Ratner already has heaps of PG-13 movies, why make another!
this should be more like Money Talks, not Rush Hour!

just checked imdb, they have the release year as 2010, not
2009. they may have time to change it all around.

They've already kiddied up one aspect of it - wasn't the Beverly Hills Cop theme remixed and turned into a mobile phone ringtone & eventually a cd single via those responsible for the Crazy Frog ? :P

Kids movie? They can go to hell. They'll probably replace the original theme with the crazy frog one. Morons.

Following up on a previous post back in early June, MTV Blogs stated that Brett Ratner was hinting at making Beverly Hills Cop 4 a more kid oriented affair. While Brett never ever said that, MTV said there could possibly be a PG rated Axel Foley when Ratner said the following:

When asked what is biggest challenge would be, Ratner seemed to indicate that his new film would be geared towards a very PG audience.

“10-year-old kids, 12-year-old kids don’t really know the old ‘Beverly Hills Cop.’ So it’s an opportunity to make it new for kids,” Ratner said. “The same way it felt for me watching ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ when I was a kid, that’s what I want to do for kids today.”

Why MTV would hint at it being a PG rated film just because of that quote is beyond me. I saw the first one in the theater when I was 13 (If you do the math, I'll kill you) so being 10 to 13 and listening to swear words won't be anything new to today's youth. If I could handle it back then, I'm pretty sure today's kids growing up on Grand Theft Auto won't blink twice at it.

This past weekend, Latinoreview head honcho Kellvin Chavez chatted a bit with Brett Ratner at The Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. When asked about the rumor that Beverly Hills Cop 4 may be rated PG, Brett laughed and replied:

"Dont believe everything you read on the internet. Believe me, this is going to be a hard core 'R' Beverly Hills Cop. I start shooting next year"

So there it is, straight from the horse's mouth. If Ratner says it's going to be 'R' rated, then barring studio interference, we can look forward to Axel Foley swearing it up like a mofo.[/quote:6225772a40]

Good to hear. Eddie Murphy needs an R rated movie - all these PG ones he does are so embarassing like this new Meet Dave movie hes done.

Thank god for that!!! I've just noticed this thread and reading the posts so far has been an emotional rollercoaster

I love the BHC. I've been meaning to get the DVD box set for ages since it's so cheap ($20), I'll probably get it today because if they're making a new movie the price will go up again.

About time Eddie stopped making films! Sooner the better, his hey day is long gone.

[quote:dbbc5b4a57]Extra, which would never opportunistically sensationalize a celebrity story, is claiming that former funnyman turned fat-suited embarrassment Eddie Murphy is thinking about hanging up the grotesque latex and retiring from movies.

Despite the recent menace of a possible Ratner-directed BEVERLY HILLS COP 4, Murphy apparently made this statement to the trash-TV entertainment show Extra: "I have close to fifty movies and it's like, why am I in the movies? I've done that part now. I'll go back to the stage and do standup." A shame, but perhaps it's for the best -- aside from the blip of DREAMGIRLS, we haven't seen the genuinely amusing and charismatic Eddie since, what, BOWFINGER? Only the charmless pod-person from METRO, HOLY MAN, SHOWTIME, I SPY, PLUTO NASH, etc... Retirement, huh?

This supposed exit coincidentally comes just before the arrival of his latest monstrosity MEET DAVE, which by all appearances is the cinematic equivalent to having millions of feces-tainted needles simultaneously thrust into every pore on your body. [/quote:dbbc5b4a57]

I do hope he goes back to doing standup. Raw & Delirious are still hilarious to this day but it would be good to see a more current Eddie Murphy standup show.

Metro was okay... the rest of those were awful though.

So will Eddie be in BHC4? Whats the point if he's not.
