Production has started on the X-Men movie spinoff, Wolverine. Hugh Jackman will be playing the character of Wovlerine and it is expected to be released in 2007.

Also, the character of Magneto (also from X-Men) will bring out his own movie also due to be released in 2007.

From IMDB:

[u:237981ae19]Wolverine[/u:237981ae19]
[quote:237981ae19]The mutant known as Wolverine breaks off into his off spin-off film from the successful X-MEN franchise! Hugh Jackman (X1, X2, Van Helsing) returns as Logan/ Wolverine; A mutant with regenerative powers, three claws, and a skeleton which is laced with the rare metal known as adamantium. Logan struggles to find the secrets to his past. After learning little information through the help of Charles Xavier (X2's Patrick Stewart), Logan takes his search even further by learning the full truth of his orgins, while also heading in a bold, new direction.[/quote:237981ae19]

[u:237981ae19]Magneto[/u:237981ae19]

However dont expect a movie deticated to the character of Storm.

[quote:237981ae19][b:237981ae19]No X-Men spin-off for Halle Berry[/b:237981ae19]

While Hugh Jackman is pushing on with his Wolverine spin-off, his X-Men co-star Halle Berry says she has no such plans for her super-hero character, Storm.

But Berry said she would be happy to make an appearance in Jackman's film, and also a spin-off for Ian McKellen's character, Magneto.

"Storm probably won't be spinning off," Berry told AAP in Cannes where she and Jackman are attending the premiere of their latest and third X-Men adventure, X-Men, The Last Stand.

"I have no real desire to do that - not to knock a Wolverine or Magneto spin-off.

"I would be happy to be a part of their movies in some way if they ask me to but what I love about X-Men is the X-Men.

"It is the group of all of them together and that is what has made the series so successful."

The actors were to front a press conference before attending the red carpet premiere.

The film is screening out of competition during the city's annual international film festival, which runs until Sunday.

Berry's castmates are all rumoured to be looking at spin-offs for the successful franchise, with Jackman and McKellen's characters looking most likely.

"I am all for that," said McKellen when asked about the rumours of a Magneto movie.

"I don't know if it is going to happen but I keep asking about it."

Jackman has his own production company, which is working on Wolverine.

The 37-year-old Australian joked that he would consider letting his X-Men castmates get involved.

"They haven't finished writing the script but I am just taking bribes at present," he joked.

X-Men: The Last Stand opens nationally on Thursday.[/quote:237981ae19]

I knew about the Wolverine film - that's a definite must-see. The Magneto one would be interesting... but I have no interest in a film just dedicated to Storm, unless Ms Berry were to have reasonable lines of dialogue. I wouldn't bother with it anyway.

I've heard rumours that X-men 3 has a lot about Storm in it anyway. If that's true I doubt there'd be any point to a spin off.

And after all the rumours about her grandstanding and refusing to be in either of the sequels unless her part was made bigger I doubt any of the writers or producers is interested in working with her. :P

I'm definitely interested in the [i:11a26b482b]Wolverine[/i:11a26b482b] spin off, but not really in the [i:11a26b482b]Magneto[/i:11a26b482b] one.
I may be a geek, but it's one of my endearing qualities.

Is there such a think as X-Men overkill? I love the movies, but seriously, we dont want to oversaturate things.

I don't think that will ever be possible. I've always found her character to be rather bland & Halle Berry has never really interested me in any of her movies.

I look forward to seeing the Magneto one more than Wolverine (as much love I have for Hugh Jackman).

To me, Halley Berry doesn't seem to do main roles very well. She's better at support roles. Besides, Storm isn't exactly one of the more interesting characters in X Men

I'm actually looking more forward to the magneto spin-off since I was one to really watch a lot of the cartoon as a kid (not so much of the comic though) and know enough of xavier and mags history together. Though jackmans great as wolvie (not so great in x3 though...but forgiven with the cruddy material he had to work with) I personally don't see what more they can achieve for the character as far as film goers are concerned apart from having halle berry tag along for the ride which would suck. Sure there's plenty of lore and plots they could dive in but what would the film going audience accept? His early days working for the goverment with his past persona maybe?

Wolverine? More buffed up Hugh? Bring it on! :)
Sydney: Forgive me for being forthright, or female, but this is the way it's going to be.
