Ok, the old thread is now gone so time to start with the new one.

Tonights secret ingredient was SEA URCHIN ROE.

Has anyone tried this? If so, whats it like since it doesn't look appealing. Also, does anyone know what Swallows nest is?

While I probably wouldn't of liked any of the dishes they made tonight, I was pretty impressed with the presentation. Very artistic and I think the challenger was a pretty good match up with the Iron Chef. Had no idea that the French chef is still undefeated.

I saw this tonight and have no idea what Sea Urchin Roe is either! Mind you, as kids we used to use them as cricket balls when playing on the beach

I was pretty surprised that the challenger didn't win tonight! I though his dishes were more creative, and as one of the judges said that the dishes gradually built up in the strength of the roe, whereas the Iron Chef had all over powering ones until the last one?! Oh well :| Thankfully I don't have to eat it as I'm not a fan of roe at all!

On the unbeaten Iron Chef, I was convinced that he'd been beaten last year by someone?! But obviously I'm wrong :?

I have to agree. Some of the stuff I saw last night made me want to throw up. Although I didn't watch the entire show. I only saw a bit of the preparation stage; so I didn't get to see the final products. For all I know, it might have looked a bit better by then. :p

I've had uni in sushi dishes and if you like caviar I don't see why you'd have any problem with it. On the other hand swallows nest (which is bird's spit!) is something I have no desire to taste.

This show was a repeat - I wish SBS would just keep showing the first run eps. To put Sakai's undefeated title in context - this is show 33 (and the 10th show dubbed for overseas markets) - and only Sakai's 6th battle.

Its a shame isn't it? I just cannot wait and sit with infinitely patience while SBS continues to psychologically taunt us with the erratic showing of this great show. Yes, I had to download them. :-P

I've been waiting since 99 when I first saw them in the US and it drives me nuts they way they treat this program. I'd love to download them but so far i've been highly unsuccessful in my attempts.
