Broadcast Area of Australian TV Channels

According to Wikipedia, the top 3 TV channels in Australia are not broadcast(ed) nationwide.

  • Seven's broadcast area: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Regional Queensland
  • Nine's broadcast area : Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Northern New South Wales
  • Ten's broadcast area: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth

If so my questions are:

[*] if they're not broadcast(ed) nationwide, why did they dare to broadcast the Australian edition of worldwide TV franchises??
[*] The capital city of Australia is Canberra, why do their broadcast area(s) not reach Canberra?
[*] If people in Canberra finally can watch these 3 channels, how do they get it, while the area(s) of broadcast do not reach the capital??

Technically that is correct. However, there are different affiliate channels ... for example WIN = Channel 9 programming; PRIME = Channel 7 programming SOUTHERN CROSS = Channel 10

This is one of the reasons that the rating can be based on two different things ... 1) Capital City viewers or 2) Capital City and Regional viewers.

In answer to you other questions Canberra will get either WIN, PRIME and SOUTHERN CROSS

ok, I understand some of your point(s), but I have one more question:
1. Since these channels are not nationwide channels, how can they get top ratings behind the channels which are more national and public like ABC and SBS??
