TV Tonight wrote:Richard Morecroft to host Letters and Numbers

TV Tonight hears the host on new SBS quiz Letters and Numbers will be former ABC News presenter Richard Morecroft.

Based on a French format, which has been running since the 1960s, it has been running in the UK since 1982 as Countdown. Contestants pit their alphabetical and mathematical knowledge against each other and the clock.

The new weeknight show is due to begin recording in Melbourne soon with Morecroft who has presented ABC News, Nationwide, Behind the News – BTN and Morecroft Goes Wild!

Joining him is Lily Serna.

SBS has greenlit 100 episodes of series produced by Shine Australia, which was promised from June but is now expected in July.

This should be interesting. Something to replace a show like the Einstein Factor. Love these types of games anyway

One of my favourite sketches on that show...(at least until they kept doing the same thing and wore out it's welcome)

On topic...meh. Borrowed quiz/game shows from other countries are like sequels/remakes in movies...there's too many!

i haven't got to watch the show every night (due to work, and going out on fridays) but i have seen 3 episodes since it premiered 2 weeks ago. I like this show

It repeats (or 'encore' as netowrks like to say) at 3.30pm on SBS1, in which i watched today (so ive seen 2 'new' and 1 'repeat' in 2 weeks)

The word games are good (i can get a few words in the 30 seconds, but not too many 'lomg words') but the numbers games are tricky for the 30 seconds without a calculater. lol

Happened upon this last week - what a hoot! It has all the tension and excitement of old undies. :P

(Oh, and I found the word games easy, and was impressed by the girlgeek's maths - not being that way inclined.)

Yeah i have watched it a couple of times. Its actually quite funny. "I'll have 2 large and 4 smalls." "Popular choice there" Its a little embarrassing to watch i thought. The math chick is smart but she doesnt always get right on either which i think isnt right considering. However like i said its a good watch.

I watch this some of the time. I'm not that good with the words rounds - normally I can only get up to 4-5 letter words. Numbers are more of my thing.

It has become a favorite of mine to watch over the last 2 weeks, provides some exercise for the brain.... but also the ability to kill a few brain cells due to their bad jokes about the words that come up during the episode etc.

I love the final conundrum, some have been very easy.... and others have had me stumped.... yet i see the word as it's being said - catches me off guard and wonder why i didn't spot it.

Lily Serna is a bit of a hottie as well
