hey all

people who read this, could you please comment.

what does everyone think of the logies???
i say they should get rid of the overseas awards, and add several more australian awards.

if anyone has predictions on who will be nominated (or who will win). go for it.

thanks all

i think the mdeia and the industry puts too much value on these awards when most of them are just voted for by the viewers of TV week :roll:

I agree with yellow sock about the awards

Channel 7 is hoping they get alll the awards but they don't care whether or not one of their actors is entered into the hall of fame, see the huge news concering Channel 7 for the reason.

out of the people listed in the most popular male & feamle new talents - i have no bloody idea on who most of them are. would like to see sho will be nominated out of these people.

Also, let's see if John Wood makes a consecutive 8th Gold Logie Nomination this year. Hope he does, but actually WINS. He deserves to win something until he retires.

[quote:731a6bfa47="yellow sock"]add several more australian awards.

Such as?

They have all the catagories already. Even loving lifestyle has it;s own catagory. What the hell could they add? Another "Mothers and teenage girls voters award (basically, everyone who buys TV Week) Award"?

well, they could add a few others like:

most popular childrens program
most popular juvenille actor / actress;
most popular guest appearance (like the emmy's);
most popular sports event;
most popular tv sports commentator;
most popular commercial

just to name a few.

Also, the logies are on April 18th (its on that sunday)

Extremely pointless.

The "most popular" awards are the most pointless because everyone acts like its "Australia's voting" when its just teenage girls and mothers who buy TV Week let alone how many of them would actually vote for these dumb awards.

Meet the stars you chose to battle it out for the big gongs in the 2004 TV Gold Logie Most Popular Personality on TV. For the full list of nominees buy this week's copy of TV WEEK.

[b:6c33602ffa]Lisa Chappell[/b:6c33602ffa]
Claire McLeod might be gone, but Lisa is not forgotten! This is the second TV WEEK Gold Logie nomination for the McLeod’s Daughters actress. Lisa has taken time out of acting to work on her budding music career, and is excited about the prospects that lie ahead. she tells TV WEEK she is looking forward to attending the Logies as it will give her the opportunity to catch up with some old friends. And if she heads home with a little gold statuette? Well, that’s the icing on the cake!

[b:6c33602ffa]Rove McManus[/b:6c33602ffa]Rove McManus will stop at nothing to win his second Gold Logie! “I’m going to do a Tonya Harding kind of spanner-to-the-knee thing with all the fellow nominees, so even if their name is read out they just physically won’t be able to get up there,” he laughs. Rove picked up the award last year, and has admitted the Gold Logie has opened doors for him. “Let’s just say that it wasn’t long after the award that we signed our network deal,” he explains.

[b:6c33602ffa]Georgie Parker[/b:6c33602ffa]
There can be no denying that Georgie Parker is one of Australia’s most popular actresses. When she accepted her TV WEEK Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent in 1990 it became clear that Australia would be seeing a lot more of her. Fourteen years later and fans still love her. And Georgie still loves the Logies. “I don’t really tend to get dressed up much in my own life, so to go out to something like that where someone looks after you, dresses you and does your make-up is great,” she says.

[b:6c33602ffa]Delta Goodrem[/b:6c33602ffa]
What a year it’s been for Neighbours star Delta Goodrem. This time a year ago, the beautiful actress-turned-singer was having her first taste of Logies victory, picking up the Most Popular New Female Talent award. But then in July last year, Delta was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease and underwent rigorous chemotherapy. Six months later, things are looking up for the star. Not only did she scoop the pool at last year’s ARIA Awards, she’s also returned to acting, accepting the title role in Hating Alison Ashley.

[b:6c33602ffa]John Wood[/b:6c33602ffa]
John Wood has done it again! This is the Blue Heelers actor’s eighth consecutive TV WEEK Gold Logie nomination for his portrayal of Snr Sgt Tom Croydon in the popular police drama. In previous years, John has lost out on the award to fellow Blue Heelers star Lisa McCune, but this year it’s just him representing the Mt Thomas constabulary. Although John has won three TV WEEK Logie Awards over the years, he has never managed to take home the Gold. Could this be his year?

Popularity contest... I believe Delta shall win since she's got such a broad and loyal fanbase, John Wood may get some votes since his never won in the 8 years his been nominated in this category. Georgie Parkers won a few times so she can do it again. I voted for Rove McManus because I'm biased :roll:
