Homeland switches to SBS

Season seven of Homeland will screen in 3 weeks time on SBS -no longer screening on TEN.

This will be just 4 days after its US return. The show was previously distributed by 20th Century FOX TV.

SBS Director of Television and Online Content, Marshall Heald said: “SBS audiences were captivated by the gripping, emotional Israeli drama that inspired Homeland, so we’re thrilled to bring the penultimate season of this US hit drama to Australian audiences.

“Homeland explores geopolitics, international intrigue and espionage and is a compelling human drama.”

Episodes will be available after broadcast via SBS On Demand.

The edge-of-your-seat spy thriller premiered to universal critical acclaim and is based on the original Israeli series Prisoners of War, which premiered in Australia on SBS in 2013.

Starring Emmy and Golden Globe winner Claire Danes and Emmy and Tony winner Mandy Patinkin, the series also stars returning actors Elizabeth Marvel, Linus Roache, Maury Sterling and Jake Weber, and joining the cast this season is acclaimed actor Morgan Spector (Boardwalk Empire).

CIA officer Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is top in her field despite being bipolar, which makes her volatile and unpredictable. With the help of her long-time mentor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), Carrie fearlessly risks everything, including her personal well-being and sanity, at every turn.

At the end of season six, following an assassination attempt on her life, President Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) broke her promise to Carrie by arresting 200 members of the intelligence community without bringing charges against them, including Saul Berenson.

In season seven, Carrie has moved back to D.C. to take on the Keane administration and secure the release of the 200 and prove that not all conspiracies are theories.

Friday 16 February at 8.30pm on SBS.

at least with SBS we can rely on it being Uncut, I remember watching on Ten and noticing a few edits.

playing it at 8:30 with an M rating instead of MA, until they bumped it up to 9:30 at least.

also with SBS at least they will keep the timeslot, unlike Ten.
