ComicBookMovie wrote:AMC Renews The Walking Dead for a Second Season!

After rumors of a second season even before the release of the first one, it is now official. The Walking Dead will be getting a Second Season!

Deadline is reporting after a record breaking 2 episodes The Walking Dead will indeed be returning for a second season. Here is what president of AMC Charlie Collider and Sharon Tal Yguado, SVP Scripted Programming had to say about the renewal

“The ‘Dead’ has spread!” said Charlie Collier, President, AMC.“No other cable series has ever attracted as many Adults 18-49 as ‘The Walking Dead.’ This reaffirms viewers’ hunger for premium television on basic cable. We are so proud to be bringing back ‘The Walking Dead’ again, across the globe.”

“I wish all programming decisions were no brainers like this one,” said Sharon Tal Yguado, SVP Scripted Programming. “‘The Walking Dead’ is a TV masterpiece on so many levels. We want at least 10 seasons, if not more. Kudos to AMC!”

The Walking Dead has scored ratings only two episodes into its 6 episode first season so a second season should come as no surprise. With a an ongoing comic series by Robert Kirkman as its basis, the show could easily have at least a few more seasons worth of story telling, but how awesome does ten sound?

You can catch The Walking Dead Sundays at 10 on AMC.

Has anyone started watching this yet?

I've seen the pilot and quite enjoyed it but haven't had a chance to get to the 2nd episode yet!

The pilot was excellent. Felt like a combination of Shawshank Redemption and several good zombie films. Great characterisation, nice visuals, and despite the slow-burning pace, it never bored me.

Second episode didn't hold up as well. Felt more conventional and like something from the commercial stations. Though I liked how it continued straight from the first ep.

Pilot was incredible. Haven't got the 2nd ep yet and am a bit busy for the next 2 weeks but that's ok means I get to watch 2 or 3 eps in a row.

Don't like the news of a 13 episode second season; I want a second season by all means but keep it at 6 episodes it will keep the script tight; zombie could get tiresome after 13 episodes. Will be interesting to see how they execute it though.

First two eps were great. Zombie killing fun with some drama and emotion. Nice... :) This is a keeper.

I am so NOT a Frank Darabont fan. His prison films are overrated maudlin rubbish as far as I'm concerned.

They ARE zombies though...so I'll give it a go at some point.

Will be hard to beat Dead Set though...which was amazing.
