Yeah, it's more than about those three characters. It's about the whole town mainly. Its a show where the whole cast will be involved.

I keep seeing ads for this saying "Soon". But I would love to see it NOW! I feel like all the shows I like to watch are wrapping up or have already wrapped up and there's not much out there to replace them.
I may be a geek, but it's one of my endearing qualities.

no, October 4th is when GO will become a fully fledged channel.
so from October 4th onwards is when more shows will be available.

This premiered in the US last night (now?) September 10th.

No idea when it'll start on GO though. Knowing Channel 9's [i:694b8ce928]m.o.[/i:694b8ce928] they'll advertise it for 6 months and never show it. :(

Anybody, bar myself downloading this?

I don't want to make a spoiler thread if I'm gonna be the only one posting.

I've watched it.. and thought it was a pretty good first episode.. it pretty much is like an intro to the series, setting up the characters and relationships.

I thought it was pretty cheesy. Nothing we haven't seen before.

It took itself a little bit too seriously.

There were some decent performances from Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley, but I thought Ian Somerhalder was terrible. He was way over the top. He lacked the subtly that the others had in their performances.

I get that Damon is supposed to be the smug, cocky older brother, but is there seriously nothing else to him? He seemed so one dimensional.

Also, I hate to compare it, but it just didn't seem as effortless as Twilight did. It felt forced and contrived.

For me, Twilight subverted the Vampire/Horror genre, where as Vampire Diaries seems to pretty much conform to everything about it. It's like they had a list of cliche horror conventions to tick off.

While the genre aspect was pretty terrible, some of the relationships were somewhat interesting. Like Elena's relationship with her brother; with her ex; Elena's brother's relationship with the chick that gets bitten, etc.

If you removed all the Vampire aspects, it'd probably be a fairly decent melodrama.

Overall, I thought it was pretty average. If just needs to lighten up a little and give itself room to breath, instead of trying to be dark and mysterious all the time.

I might be inclined to check out the second episode.

I loved it, and thought it was one of the best pilots I've seen for a while. It introduced the characters very well, and they were well-defined. Nina Dobrev alone would be enough to keep me watching.

I loved it too. It's right up there with True Blood. Though True Blood writing is a little bit slicker.
The best way to be boring is to leave nothing out.
