I rarely vote.

I have to really want someone to win/lose for me to justify giving Telstra any extra money!

I've spent a total of $1.10 this year........so I guess that puts me in the rarely bracket.

[quote:4d89a24315]And then there's the ratings. The McKinsey Quarterly report last year predicted that TV programs which feature an SMS feature could boost their ratings by up to 20 per cent.[/quote:4d89a24315]

As well as increase forum traffic and bring people who become quite passionate possibly a tad obsessive about the money they are spending on people that they don't personally know in the hope of giving somebody else something they will never ever share in.........it's insane.

I mean there is disposable income and then there is just insanity by not even getting something for it.........how many people have voted and their team/contestant don't even win.......how can you justify the expense......shrug......

Rarely vote. The only exception was for MRR2 where I spent about $20 - $30 in a vain attempt to keep RL in the competition :D

SMS voting is the biggest RIP-OFF!!! :x
They NEVER say how many votes they got.(so viewers can't see how much money they made) :naughty:
You can vote as many times as you like, $ permitting and even other channels can sabotage(how the hell logans won beats me,nobody knows anyone who voted for them)
(if your on a $50 a month plan and you've only used $20 you may as well use it)
You don't even have the chance to
Win anything for your SMS:shock:
Oh! remember this from BB05
The phone lines are open for an extra 15mins :shifty:
Translates to:
The phones are getting $15000.oo a minute
or
Greg is still not winning so keep voting.

I'd pay $5(if i felt like it) as long as everyone only got 1 vote...
But Channels would winge we don't make enough money.
millions in ads space but will still winge.

You can place bets on DWT Stars and others so if bookies are going to lose BIG they could vote for the unlikely person so they still come up with a profit(using a % of the money you bet)

I'll stop now before this turns into a pelican brief

Across all RTV shows, and I do watch a lot of them, :shifty: I've voted a total of.....hang on.......[size=9:dda4777216]counting, counting[/size:dda4777216] [b:dda4777216]once[/b:dda4777216]. That was my mad moment and it was for Ash and Amanda in MRR1.

I hate the SMS voting and I do believe it skews the outcome of shows away from more worthy winners to winners who have fans with enough [i:dda4777216]available credit[/i:dda4777216].

Personally, I'd prefer to see more [i:dda4777216]professional[/i:dda4777216] judges judging IYKWIM.

Yeah... myself and my mother spent about $20 trying to help Restaurant Louvre stay in MRR2... and then after the 'Video Scandal' a week later, decided not to ever SMS vote ever again...

Then BB started and I voted to get that blonde surfer dude intruder outta there cos I didn't like him... (But I *think* that was the only time during BB... lol)

As for next year... meh... I am cautious about MRR now... BB I may throw a vote in here and there, but wouldnt for Idol as I don't intend on buying the winners album (ie. I just dont care enough). At least with MRR there is the fact that if you vote for them it could give you a chance to dine there after the show has aired...
