Anthony Mundine Has Left The 'I’m A Celebrity' Jungle!

Following Bernard Tomic’s departure from the show just two days in, Anthony Mundine has become the second person in Australia’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! history to utter the words and quit.

For a show that attempts to be as tight-lipped as possible with every single piece of information about which celebrities will enter the jungle before the premiere, Channel Ten has been surprisingly keen to tell viewers when someone is going to leave before the episode airs.

The news broke early this morning when Anthony took to his Facebook page to make the announcement.

Anthony lasted just under two weeks in the jungle.

Paul Burrell to join TEN’s jungle

According to UK reports, former butler to Princess Diana, Paul Burrell, is headed to I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

The 59-year-old was a contestant on the UK edition of the show back in 2004 where he placed as a runner-up following his extreme reaction to challenges.

Burrell acted as Princess Diana’s butler before her sudden death in August 1997. He has since written several books about her and has claimed that she called him her “rock” and “the only man she ever trusted”. That would make him the missing “author” that the show has teased.

Last night TEN indicated two Brits were coming including one who “knows royal secrets” and a “former queen,” following the shock departure of Anthony Mundine.

TEN also appears to still have not dropped its world champion nor its TV star in the jungle.

According to reports, the "queen" is apparently Vicky Patterson from Geordie Shore.

Woah. Not used to see two celebrities to walk out in our version (Bernard Tomic, and now Anthony Mundine). Apparently, the walk-outs are quite often in the UK version (going by other forums).

Good to see Paul Burrell join our show.
The Geordie Shore person? Who? Sigh... :(

Tiffany first to be voted out of TEN jungle

’80s US singer Tiffany is alone now after being the first contestant to be voted out of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here by the viewing public.

Tiffany, who was unable to complete a previous challenge involving heights, left the show after scoring lowest along with Simone Holtznagel and Kerry Armstrong.

Paul Burrell, Vicky Pattinson join I’m A Celebrity.

In TV’s worst kept secret Brits Paul Burrell & Vicky Pattinson joined I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here last night.

Former royal family butler Paul Burrell and Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison have both featured in the UK series, with Pattinson winning in 2015.

Both shared a cup of tea by way of introductions, but must wait until tonight to meet the other celebrities.

Another opinion piece :)

Why I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here is losing steam

OPINION: It is the television series named and famed for one phrase only: "I'm A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!"

Australia's Network Ten has confirmed under the rules of the show, both in Australia and the UK, the phrase can be used by a celebrity to halt a challenge or leave the series.

How producers know which actual decision it is, when the words are uttered out loud randomly by a celebrity, is anybody's guess.

Clearly because the show is heavily edited to be condensed into its evening timeslot (it airs in New Zealand weeknights on TVNZ2), some discussions must go on behind-the-scenes.

Viewers do know, though, the phrase has been uttered out loud three times on-air already in this year's series of the show. The first two times by Bernard Tomic – once in a challenge and once to leave the series – and the third time by American singer Tiffany Darwish (during a tucker trial), although she currently remains in the camp.

Anthony Mundine instead departed with the words, "I'm the Man...Get Me Out of Here". The Project Australia host Waleed Aly surely wasn't the only Australian who noticed Mundine did not use the official phrase to exit the jungle set.

"He didn't actually say the words, so does that mean he is still the competition?" Aly asked, jokingly, when the panel were discussing Mundine's shock exit. Ten probably wishes this was the case.

Despite his controversial and often offensive views, the loss of Mundine is a huge blow to their star line-up and continued promotion of a 'rumble in the jungle' between Mundine and his boxing rival Danny Green.

There is no way they would have expected Mundine to throw the towel in so early, particularly given the big-budget promotions surrounding his presence on the show. It comes on top of the loss of tennis player Tomic, who was another household name for this series.

Host Julia Morris summed up the situation at the end of last week when she said, "what is going on? We have two people gone ... even before the eliminations have begun". Her co-host Chris Brown described it as "the season of shocks".

Clearly the scriptwriters are flailing about for a new catchphrase for this year's series. Their real problem is, however, the "season of shocks" may have already happened within the first fortnight of viewing.

The greatest challenge now facing I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! is actually a complete lack of shock factor. Without Mundine, without his rivalry with Green and without Tomic, it is starting to look a little bland.

Australia's Ten network will no doubt rally to keep people interested despite the loss of two of the biggest names on the show. But at this early stage in the series, there is only one catchphrase they truly need to be concerned about: "I'm a viewer … get me out of here!"

Another reason people probably not watching is that no one really knows who they are - plus it's up against Married At First Sight, and from what I'm hearing, it's captured more people again this season.
