interesting that sbs are showing an australian movie season straight after the olympics

the films have been excellent so far

look boy ways is slightly pretentious

the home song stories was excellent

three dollars was interesting- david wenham was in pretty much each scene in the entire movie

and last night they showed somersault

somersault hasnt got the most brilliant script (ie very dry dialogue) but the cinematography and the soundtrack is what makes it a film that i remember well

i have a copy of the soundtrack somewhere hmm...

Agreed right there- No matter how many times I watch Young Einstein, I still laugh my bullocks off.

Other Aussie films I've enjoyed are:
Blurred
Muriel's Wedding
Razorback
The Locals
Dead Heart

Off the top of my head... 5 Aussie films I love:

Lantana
The Dish
The Castle
The Man From Snowy River
and BMX Bandits (only because I watched it to death when I was little :P )

I couldn't stand Footy Legends. Tried to like it... but, nah.

I have been getting into Aussie films lately, newer ones. and I'm not into many Aus films really, haven't seen too many.

but I watched a couple of months ago These Final Hours and loved it! not knowing much about it I went into it blind and it had me hooked. it's just a well made and very realistic look at a end of the world movie, it's the way it would actually be in real life. we wouldn't have Bruce Willis and co going to space to stop the asteroid, there's no stopping them. the world would end, the way it happened was in the movie is that it hit on the top of the world and Perth would be the last place in the world that would feel the effects of the fire ball/wave that has already wiped out the rest of the world. when the movie starts it would effect Perth 12 hours later. just what happens in the movie would happen like that - people get drunk and party, people kill themself, people commit crimes and so on. the acting was great and even though it wasnt an interesting story it didn't bore me.

highly recommended if you haven't seen it!!
