Bumped: Sisters, Madam Secretary

TEN’s new local drama Sisters has been pushed back to a later start-time this week of 9:30pm.

It follows disappointing numbers for the new series from Endemol Shine Australia. Last week it pulled just 218,000 viewers -but that was against the might of the Socceroos.

It has been a disappointing reception for the new drama about a family who discover they have unknown siblings due to a reckless use of IVF.

TEN will replace it with a repeat episode of Law & Order: SVU.

US drama Madam Secretary moves to 10:30pm.

The show returns for its 13th season next Monday night with two new episodes, which aired in the US from late September.

“Wheels Up / To A Better Place”
Agent Matt Simmons joins the BAU team in a race to take down Mr. Scratch and save one of their own in the process. Then, the BAU investigates three similar crimes.

8:40pm Monday November 27 on Seven.

Airdate: Truth & Lies: The Family Manson

Nine has scheduled Truth & Lies: The Family Manson this Thursday, following the death of Charles Manson yesterday.

A planned episode on the Menendez brothers is now out of schedule.

A special documentary on Charles Manson, his cult of devoted followers, and the grisly murders in Los Angeles that he instructed his members to carry out. Included are interviews with Manson, and former cult members Leslie Van Houten and Patricia Krenwinkel.

8:30pm Thursday on Nine.

Update: Cram

TEN has made an amendment to Cram, adding it to 7:30pm Wednesday next week as well as Thursday.

Guests include Grant Denyer, Rowdie Waldon, Susie Youssef and Christie Whelan Browne (Wed).

The move makes sense given TEN is trying to build the brand and ratings are about to wrap up. TEN only had a Jamie Oliver repeat in the slot, so it’s no big loss.

Two more episodes will play the following week, outside of ratings.

No such doubling up for Sisters, which still has its final episode in the first week of summer.

This Is Us Returns to Ten next month

This Is Us fans there is some excellent news this morning with Ten confirming the series will return next month.

This Is Us chronicles the Pearson family across the decades; from Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) as young parents in the 1980s to their now 37-year-old children Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) searching for love and fulfilment in the present day.

This grounded, life-affirming drama reveals how the tiniest events in our lives impact who we become, and how the connections we share with each other can transcend time, distance and even death.

Season two picks up on the Big Three’s 37th birthdays, Randall wants to adopt a baby, but Beth convinces him they can honour William’s legacy by adopting an older child. Kate auditions as a band’s lead singer after initially leaving because all the other women auditioning were thin. She is rejected because of her inexperience, not her weight. In the past, Rebecca takes the Big Three to a movie after an argument with Jack. When Jack admits his drinking is out of control, will he return home to his family?

This Is Us. Season Two. Premieres Wednesday, 14 February At 8.30pm on Ten.

Underbelly Files Chopper to air over two nights

The untold story of Mark “Chopper” Read will be revealed when Underbelly Files: Chopper premieres on Nine and 9Now over two nights next month.

Starring award-winning actor Aaron Jeffery (Wentworth, McLeod’s Daughters, Water Rats) as Chopper, an outstanding cast will feature alongside him, including two-time Logie Award winner Michael Caton (The Castle, Packed to the Rafters) as Chopper’s father, Keith, Todd Lasance (The Vampire Diaries) as Chopper’s nemesis, the gangster Syd Collins, and Ella Scott Lynch (Love Child) who will portray his second wife, Margaret, with whom he shared a love that defied obstacles and lasted decades.

The impressive cast also includes Zoë Ventoura as Chopper’s first wife, Mary Ann, Jane Allsop, Reef Ireland, Alex Tsitsopoulos and Anna Bamford, with original Underbelly alumni Vince Colosimo and Kevin Harrington returning as Alphonse Gangitano and Lewis Moran, and Debra Byrne reprising her portrayal of Judy Moran.

Mark “Chopper” Read established a reputation of infamy by becoming one of the toughest criminals in Australian history. But in order to secure the affections of the woman he loves, Chopper fights to go straight. Yet the sins of his past, his ego and an ongoing feud with Syd Collins will make his hopes of a straight life a dangerous and near-impossible enterprise.Underbelly Files: Chopper explores the collision of Chopper’s two competing identities – the myth and the man.

Aaron Jeffery said: “As a character in the show that we’re creating, he did some brutal, horrific things to people. But there was also a flipside to his personality that could be gentle, kind, and loving. And that juxtaposition of the human spirit is something that I find fascinating.”

Nine’s co-heads of drama, Andy Ryan and Jo Rooney, said: “As a hardened gangster and loving family man, “Chopper” Read was one of Australia’s most complex and compelling crooks. Prepare to be shocked and entertained as Aaron Jeffery brings a whole new dimension to the Chopper legend, supported by many of Australia’s finest actors.”

UNDERBELLY FILES: CHOPPER PREMIERES PART 1: SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 11, AT 8.30PM AND PART 2: MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12, AT 9.00PM ON NINE.

Nine plans a Date Night on Tuesdays

Nine has locked in it’s new entertainment series Date Night for Tuesdays.

Join everyday Australian singles along with their hilarious friends and families as they attempt to make a real connection online when Date Night premieres later this month.

They laugh, cringe and squirm until they meet the person of their dream – or not – in this hilarious new dating reality narrated by Gyton Grantley.

All around Australia singles are looking for love online. Whether it’s Tinder, RSVP, Bumble or the Date Night app, finding Mr or Ms Right, or rather, Right now, is just a click away.

Date Night follows a bunch of singles from the comfort of their lounge rooms, using only a dating app and the wise counsel of wing-men and wing-women. In the search for love, family and friends comment on the pictures and profiles of fellow daters as they go. What makes a good profile picture? What makes a bad one? What are instant deal-breakers and why? Should you date someone with the same name as your dad or your ex-boyfriend?

Nine’s Head of Content, Partnerships and Development, Adrian Swift, said: “This is the show that makes choosing a date a spectator sport. Our daters and their friends give a fresh, authentic and mostly hilarious commentary on profile after profile before finally finding the right match. It shows real Aussies making real connections in a complicated online world.”

In the premiere episode, 28-year-old Faryn enlists the help of her mum and bestie to search for Mr Right. Faryn has a list of requirements as long as her arm, and has yet to find the man that meets them. Will she find a date with a man who ticks all of the boxes? Lyndal, 47, and her friend Amanda love taking a punt on the ponies and a nice glass of vino. Lyndal has put her love life in the hands of her wing-woman in the hope that Amanda will back a winner for her.

Sci-fi nerd Jason, 23, has never had a serious girlfriend, preferring to spend his Saturday nights with his movie mates and Star Wars DVDs. At 30, Ben isn’t quite ready to settle down, but for the right girl he may be convinced. Wing-man and ex-housemate Darren is lending his Irish charm to help Ben land a lady.

Date Night premieres on Nine and 9Now on Tuesday, February 13, straight after Married at First Sight.
