Last year, SBS2 aired a Danish drama called ''The Bridge''. I finally got around in watching it. Season 2 will be airing next year, and I hope to turn into it.

Also, the A-league soccer have Friday night games LIVE on SBS2 for the next few years, which is great. Ratings for the games so far have been good. Also, Thursday FC airs on Thursdays (duh!) at 8.30pm. It's the soccer's version of the AFL/NRL Footy Show.

I was watching SBS HD last night and I couldnt help realise how shortchanged we are as a FTA viewing public to genuine HD content

The show was Masters of Sex. the show is not as exciting as the show's title suggests, and after seeing it in crisp HD quality, I realise how shortchanged we are to seeing HD quality tv one our boxes

7,9, 10 and the abc doesnt offer it, and One doesnt do it either

Only Foxtel and watching stuff on bluray is it possible to maximise the potential on your HD TV

SBS are airing more and more American movies, Saturday Nights are War themed but SBS 2 starting this Wednesday are airing horror movies! not foreign, popular American ones throughout October.

this Wednesday its Scream at 8:30 and Child's Play at 10:30!! both have aired on 9/GO.

I saw an ad and by the looks of it, they will be showing the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Devil's Rejects, Saw, Evil Dead 2 or Army of Darkness.. not sure which.

I think that's fricken awesome that they are taking movies from other channels. and airing the violent ones at 8:30 uncut!!

also SBS 2 have aired Sin City, Gattaca and Ultra Violet. while SBS have aired Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket.

heads up, if your after something different tonight why not turn to SBS 2 for a horror-thon with Scream and Child's Play!

I recorded this ad with my phone and uploaded it to YouTube -

they aren't exactly showing too many 'classics' even though it's been advertised as such though.

90s and 00s mostly. would have been better if they stuck to older stuff that hasn't been on TV before or hasn't been on in a while. or at least put the old ones on at 8:30 and the newer ones at 10:30. even though they can play MA movies at 8:30, not sure if they are uncut. SBS 1 played Full Metal Jacket and Apocolypse Now at 8:30 and they are R rated. I'm surprised they aren't showing From Dusk Till Dawn, since they recently played the TV series.

ok I've done more research, and it's pretty sweet cause on Halloween night they will be having a marathon!

the whole lineup:

October 1st - Scream, Child's Play
October 8th - The Descent, High Lane
October 15th - Cabin Fever, Texas Chainsaw Massacre
October 22nd - Saw, Videodrome
October 29th - Sightseers, Army of Darkness
October 31st - Evil Dead 2, Devil's Rejects, Halloween (78), The Orphanage

pretty cool, FTA does not do this at all so it's awesome someone cares to do stuff like this on any channel!

And for a plot twist

Sbs on demand have opened up the stream for 400 films to be streamed for free on that website

Mostly foreign movies

But theyre there for people who are interested in that sort of stuff

I knew about the Saturday night films War Films, but woah, well fancy that!!! I wasn't aware of these "horror films" playing over SBS2 until not that long ago. I was flicking through the channels tonight at just after 10.30pm to see what was on (channel surfing) and I came upon Child's Play, a film I hadn't seen in so long, that I actually forgotten some of it. I watched about 95% of it (I missed the opening few minutes).

I think this is a great idea for SBS2 to air these themed movie nights.

And for this online sbs on demand thing, I also find that quite intriguing. Another great initiative.

SBS has made a great news show - The Feed, hosted by Marc Fennell - a guy who specialises in movies, although he sometimes takes a night off and they get Andy Park (hes white, not Korean  ) and Jeanette Francis to host in his place

The show is full of pop culture references where they find little clips to make light of the news stories that are illogical out there in the world

Conversely, on the other opposite spectrum of the emotional rainbow, the show delves deeply into the human interest stories in the old style of the old current affairs shows, where it investigates the emotional effect of the stories, because too many stories these days just tell people what happened in an exercise of objectivity, without telling people what the background was as to what caused it, and alas what is sometimes left behind :( . If anyone gets a chance, check out that story they did on that young Victorian man who met his demise on the first day of his job diving for pearls. Its an amazing piece of journalism that I havent forgotten

speaking of SBS 2, although the Halloween season is over.. they aren't done with horror movies.

Wednesday nights are now vampire themed, this week they are showing From Dusk Till Dawn!
