Foxtel announces lineup for 2012. Some very impressive shows including Smash. I am still gobsmacked Seven decided to onsell it to Foxtel when i believe this is going to be a hit. I know NBC are slumping it at the moment but i think this could be NBC's new shining star. Apt 23 is going to be fantastic too. It actually makes me excited to have Foxtel with so much new content next year. Looking good.

Also coming are Hart of Dixie S2, Grimm S2, Vampire Diaries S4, American Idol S12, featuring Mariah Carey, and Gossip Girl S6.

From September FOX8 will kick off its hottest new and returning programming express from the US, giving viewers the opportunity to watch their favourite series within a week of the episode being screened in the US.

The blockbuster sci fi drama Revolution, from producer JJ Abrams, and the highly anticipated 666 Park Avenue, starring Australian actress Rachael Taylor, make their Australian television debuts only on FOX8. Both series come from the renowned distributors of Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie and Two and a Half Men, Warner Bros. Television.

666 Park Avenue, based on the novel of the same name by Gabriella Pierce, is set in The Drake, a prestigious apartment building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Owned by the mysterious Gavin Doran (Terry O’Quinn – Lost) and his sexy wife Olivia (Vanessa Williams – Desperate Housewives), The Drake is home to dozens of residents who are unaware they’re living in the dark embrace of supernatural forces. They think their dreams are all coming true, only to find they’ve been lured into making, what feels like, a deal with the devil.

When a young mid-western couple, Jane Van Veen (Rachael Taylor) and Henry Martin (Dave Annable – Brothers & Sisters), is hired to manage The Drake, they soon discover evil, obsession, and manipulation has a home there.

Revolution stars Twilight actor Billy Burke and is set in a post-apocalyptic future where 15 years earlier an unknown phenomenon permanently disabled all advanced technology and electricity on the planet bringing life back to how it was long before the industrial revolution.

On the fringes of a small farming community a young woman’s life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously and unbeknownst to her had something to do with the electricity blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future.

The upcoming drama from Lost’s Abrams and Supernatural’s Eric Kripke will also star Lost actress Elizabeth Mitchell.

FOX8’s express from the US strategy will include the delivery of new episodes of hit series Hart of Dixie S2, Grimm S2, Vampire Diaries S4, American Idol S12, featuring Mariah Carey, and Gossip Girl S6.

Foxtel to launch iQ3 plus a number of new shows and 2 new channels replacing existing ones in 2014.

TV Tonight wrote:“Drama that’s different” on Foxtel in 2014

The Devil’s Playground, Wentworth, Game of Thrones, House of Cards and The Real Housewives of Melbourne are amongst Foxtel’s 2014 titles, announced at its annual Upfronts in Sydney tonight.

Also confirmed for 2014 was the iQ3 PVR and new channels TV Hits and Syfy.

US cable hits Ray Donovan, VEEP and The Newsroom will return, joined by new US drama True Detective starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

The US version of Rake, starring Greg Kinnear, will launch on the new-look Universal Channel.

Australia’s Next Top Model is back with host Jennifer Hawkins signed to a new two year deal. Naomi Campbell is headed to Australia next month to film The Face Australia. AFL reality series The Recruit searches for an undiscovered football player to join an AFL club.

New series Star-Crossed joins returning FOX8 titles such as Revolution, Grimm, Chicago Fire, Hart of Dixie, and Pretty Little Liars, all screened Express from the US.

Foxtel Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh said, “Content is and always will remain king, and we’ve gathered, commissioned and programmed the very best for our customers. 2014 will be another monumental, game-changing year for Foxtel.

“Scripted drama is one of the biggest TV genres and is very popular with Foxtel subscribers. Over the past few years we have seen the rise of the event series or ‘super series’ taking the once exclusive high-end production experience of the cinema and creating plotlines that are far deeper than any movie can produce, over an 8-12 episode series. From Game of Thrones to Wentworth, Foxtel is the home of drama that’s different.”

New titles are also launching later this year beginning with The Crazy Ones this Sunday with Robin Williams.

Chef Matt Moran’s first series for Foxtel Paddock to Plate (The LifeStyle Channel) premieres next month and Donna Hay will return to Foxtel with a new special, A Donna Hay Christmas (LifeStyle FOOD), later this year. The LifeStyle Channel also has a new series of Celebrity Come Dine With Me Australia in the works.

Later this month, LifeStyle YOU will debut Embarrassing Bodies Down Under.

The LifeStyle Channel will have more Selling Houses Australia, Location, Location, Location Australia, Grand Designs Australia, River Cottage Australia, and in 2014 a new series Meet The Frockers with three rival bridal salons all vying for business on the same Melbourne street.

Coast Australia will see UK host Neil Oliver explore the Australian coastline on History in December 2013. Also premiering in December are the Australian productions Outback Coroner and Behind Mansion Walls, both on CI Network. Outback Coroner follows the often confronting working life of coroners in rural Australia. Behind Mansion Walls is a murder and mystery crime series investigating the lives of the wealthy, hosted by Kerri-Anne Kennerley.

Foxtel’s sports channels FOX SPORTS, FOX FOOTY, ESPN, Eurosport and Sky Racing continue their AFL, NRL, A-League, Cricket, and Rugby Union, as well as international sports such as soccer, american football, car racing, basketball, hockey, tennis and golf.

Channel [V], MAX, [V] HITS, and CMC remain STV’s home of music.

TV Tonight wrote:Foxtel iQ3 coming in 2014

Foxtel’s iQ3 will launch next year.

The third generation personal recorder will combine internet entertainment and a brand new Electronic Program Guide enhancement which lets viewers browse back in time by up to 26 hours in the TV Guide on selected channels, via the internet.

Foxtel CEO Richard Freudenstein said, “This exciting new feature will dramatically increase the amount of content available to our customers so they don’t miss out on the shows they love. We have started to roll out this feature to our internet capable iQ and iQHD subscribers and it will be available nationally over the next month, as our iQHD is offered across the entire country. The best news – it’s all included with a Foxtel subscription.

“The revolutionary iQ3 will be a quantum leap forward from our previous set top boxes. Using wi-fi technology it will offer significantly more opportunities for internet delivery and a vastly improved TV Guide that has been streamlined to help customers discover the best programming for them,” he said.

“With combined live, recorded and On Demand programs, this box will customise the TV experience and take it to the next level. We look forward to sharing more details about what the iQ3 is capable of over the coming months ahead of its launch next year.”

Freudenstein has previously spoken about the iQ3 having a 1 Terabyte hard drive and allow viewers to watch one show while recording up to four others.

TV Hits will feature classic titles such as NCIS, the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation franchise, Everybody Loves Raymond, Friends and How I Met Your Mother (although Seinfeld doesn’t appear to get a mention).

NBCUniversal-owned Syfy channel will be available in High Definition early in 2014 with science fiction and fantasy programming.

In the US Syfy original programming has included Warehouse 13, Haven, Being Human, Defiance, Battlestar Galactica and Sharknado.
