Once Upon a Time scores a 3.8 and nearly 11m viewers for its premiere episode and tops the night outside of football. It is a great show and deserves these figures. 666 Park Avenue though premieres to a very lowish 2.2 and less than 7m viewers.

- 666 Park Avenue premieres to very low figures for a new series. 2.2 and 7m viewers. This series has had the most promotion for ABC and its a big disappointment.
- The Good Wife will have its last season this year i'd say with figures like that. The Mentalist premieres ok but down on last season.
- Fox's comedies are still doing strong
- The Amazing Race starts ok at 2.5.

The Walking Dead smashes cable ratings for a drama series

Apocalypse wow: The Walking Dead kicked off its third season Sunday with record-shattering ratings. More than 10.9 million viewers watched - making the premiere episode the series’ biggest yet, rising 50 percent from the Season 2 opener. (The previously most-watched Dead episode was last season’s finale, which drew nearly 9 million viewers.)

Among the coveted 18-49 demo, Walking Dead drew 7.2 million viewers, up 52 percent from the Season 2 premiere. The action-packed hour also ranks as biggest telecast for any drama series in basic cable history in total viewers — a particularly impressive feat given that AMC is not currently available to Dish subscribers. And folding in two encores, the premiere amassed 15.2 million total viewers. Leading out of TWD‘s first encore, the Season 2 premiere of Talking Dead at 11 pm held onto 2.1 million viewers, up 85 percent from its series launch.

Last night saw the premiere of key new dramas The Blacklist and Hostages while CBS premiered their new batch of comedies including the beginning of the final season of How I Met Your Mother. The Blacklist soared with a 3.8 and 12.5m while Hostages could only pull a 1.8 and 7.41m for its premiere falling behind Castle which returned with a 2.2 and 11.46m viewers.

Sleepy Hollow continues to prove a winner so far for FOX dropping only 0.4 from last weeks premiere. Mom on CBS premiered with a 2.5 but has received quite a few bad reviews this morning.

The Voice returned to a higher result from its previous season's premiere with a 5.1 and 15m viewers while How I Met Your Mother's final season returned with an impressive 3.7 and 9.4m viewers.

Tonight sees the premiere of NCIS, Agents of SHIELD, The Goldbergs, NCIS: LA, Person of Interest, Chicago Fire, Lucky 7 and Trophy Wife. Should be an interesting night of TV.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. soars on Tuesday night with a massive 4.7 rating and 12m viewers making it the best watched new drama in 4 years. It also equalled The Voice which also garnered a 4.7 but had 14m viewers. The Goldbergs premiered to a 3.1 but by the end of the evening ABC went from first to last place in the space of 2 hours landing a 1.3 for Lucky 7 making it the worst premiere for ABC in the fall season ever.

Over on CBS NCIS premiered to 20m viewers but only a 3.6 in the demo. Person of Interest premiere down year on year getting only a 2.3 while NCIS: LA scores a 3.0, while there is hope for Chicago Fire with a great 2.7 and 9m viewers for the premiere.

Over on FOX it was a poor night all round. Dads scored a meagre 1.3, Brooklyn Nine-Nine (the critics choice) could only manage a 1.8 while New Girl got a 2.1 and The Mindy Project a 1.5

Wednesday saw Revolution return to equal series lows, Modern Family continue to dominate and Law and Order: SVU return to highs not seen from the show in quite some time. Nashville also returned flat as did CSI. The Middle continues to soldier on at 8pm while new comedy Back in The Game had the lowest-rated fall comedy premiere on ABC since 2009.

Thursday in the US saw The Big Bang Theory record the highest ever rated episode ever for the series. With a massive 6.1 and 20.44m viewers! Amazing for a show in its 7th season. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger!

The X Factor continues to be a weakness in Fox's lineup with a pretty ordinary 2.1, Parks and Recreation had a very poor start while The Crazy Ones debuted to a 3.9 and 15m viewers against NBC's new MJ Fox Show which could only manage a 2.2 despite growing 0.9 from its lead in. A lot more was expected from the show and NBC continues to have its Thursday slump, something it used to dominate back in the 90's early 00's with its lineup of comedies.

Grey's Anatomy returned up from its finale with a 3.4 and 9m viewers but down 20% on last seasons premiere. Despite all the talk around Glee it could only manage a 2.0 for its return episode and 5m viewers. Will be interesting to see how it goes in a couple of weeks for the Finn Tribute episode.

At 10pm Elementary returned to a 2.1 while Parenthood's new timeslot could only get a 1.6. Next week, last seasons rising drama Scandal returns.

Sunday saw the return of 9 favourites and a couple of newbies to the ranks. Football dominated the night as expected while the return of Once Upon a Time scored a 2.6 and 8.45m viewers up from last seasons finale but down 33% on last years premiere. Revenge scored a 2.4 and 8m viewers up 0.7 from last seasons finale. The Simpsons returned with a 2.8 and was the nights highest show outside of football. Family Guy returned with a 2.6. Betrayal on ABC was a flop getting only a 1.5 and has been given pretty harsh reviews. Don't expect it to last very long.

Football yet again struck CBS's lineup with so many shows running late yet again so the actual numbers for all CBS's shows really don't make much sense right now.

Week 2 of The Blacklist saw it drop 0.5 from last weeks rating which for a new show is ok but you would like for it to stabilise around the 3.0 mark i would like to think. Hostages won't last much longer with ratings of 1.5 for CBS on Mondays. Rumours are flying that Hawaii Five-0 will swap timeslots with Hostages in the next couple of weeks. Castle stays stable on 2.2. The Voice tops the night with a 4.7.

How I Met Your Mother also takes a dip from last weeks hour premiere but CBS's remaining comedies didn't fair so good. We Are Men premiered to a 2.0 and has received some pretty bad reviews while 2 Broke Girls and Mom are doing ok but not the usual CBS comedy figures like Big Bang and Two and a Half Men used to be getting on Mondays.

Dancing With the Stars continues to plummet on ABC falling to 4th place while Bones rose to a 2.2. I wonder if FOX still plans on moving it to Fridays later in the season. Sleepy Hollow also continues to do well for FOX getting a 3.0 in its third week.

Been a while since i've been in here. Anyway new shows are beginning to roll out and thought i'd give you a few numbers.

Red Band Society which i think is a great pilot has disappointed overnight in America scoring just a 1.4/4 in the demo and 4.1m. Its such a shame. The show imo is amazing. Americans have no idea of quality shows if it stares them in the face.

The Mysteries of Laura also had a premiere with critics and fans alike panning the show but it got 2.0/7 in the demo and 10.19m viewers. Next week will be interesting for both shows. I expect 1.4-1.5 next week for Laura.

Other recent results also include Dancing With the Stars had its weakest premiere to date with a 2.4/7 and 13.64m, Utopia is a flop with the latest episode getting 1.0/3 and 2.42m, New Girl premiered to 1.7/5 and 3.04m and Mindy Project 1.3/4 2.68m. FOX are having a terrible start to the season so far. More new shows roll out in the coming weeks and i hope to keep you up to date for a little while at least.
