The Cowboy Bepop movie they showed on Thursday was pretty good too.

Also on SBS next week on Thursday night is [b:cec5eab00e]Avalon[/b:cec5eab00e], a Japanese/Polish futuristic sci-fi flick. It's directed by Mamoru Oshii, who, as anime fans should know, did Ghost In The Shell/Ghost in the Shell 2, as well as a whole lot of other stuff. I don't much like the sound of the storyline- something to do with an all-too-realistic videogame?- but, from what I've seen of it in the preview, special effects-wise, it looks pretty damn crazy.

Wednesday/Thursday nights are looking pretty damn good on SBS. :)

On ABC, Tuesday Night 10:30pm, there's a Peter Jackson Special of At The Movies, featuring interview with the man behind Lord of the Rings, The Frighteners and, of course, King Kong.

After it, at 11, there's a screening of the original 1933 flick, King Kong. Personally, having not seen it, and although it's probably dated horribly, I can't wait.

[b:0a55630899]The Virgin Suicides[/b:0a55630899]
10.05pm - 11.45pm SBS

[size=9:0a55630899]This is the story of five sisters growing up in the 1970s. The film follows the chain of events initiated by one of the Lisbon sisters' suicide attempt and its effects on their family, their suburban town and, most importantly, the young men who love the sisters from afar and whose voices provide the narrative for the film. The story begins with 13-year-old Cecilia Lisbon in hospital after a failed suicide attempt. We watch as Cecilia's parents try to make sense of their youngest daughter's act and ineffectually try to reorganise their home and family life accordingly. When Mrs Lisbon decides that social interaction will help the girls, one of them, Lux, takes the opportunity to flirt with high-school heartthrob Trip Fontaine.[/size:0a55630899]
