I watch SBS sometimes. The only 2 shows i watch are South Park and Drawn Together.
Even though SBS is not my favorite channel, there are so people who watch it all the time. Which is good as we shouldnt all have the same tastes.

SBS is a brilliant alternative to the reality trash often dished up on the commercial stations - love the debates on Insight, the informative docos, Oz, Mythbusters, world movies etc etc etc

[quote:686e5b3de8="Rebeccasaurus"]I like SBS, especially special Friday nights at around 10:00pm :D[/quote:686e5b3de8]

Gee I wonder why.....;)

I like watching the World Movies mostly. I ususally stumble on them late at night and then end up sitting up all night watching them...

Its how I discovered the works of Hayao Miyazaki.. I came across [i:686e5b3de8]Laputa: Castle in the Sky[/i:686e5b3de8] one night and now am slowly adding these to my DVD collection :D

I also like the french movies. I understand a moderate amount of french, so I tend to not read the subtitles...unless they start cursing each other.. we didn't learn that in class :(.

[quote:f2e5abf889="A.A"]And let's not forget the Ashes...although that's not going to happen again, what with the last series featuring one of the greatest matches ever and being one of the greatest series ever. Nine aren't going to want to miss out on that, are they? :eh:

Stripperella, South Park, John Safran, Life Support, Drawn Together, Oz, Shameless, Pizza, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Harvey Birdman (inc. in Happy Tree Friends and Friends), The Awful Truth, Countless movies and anime, World Cup Soccer...the list goes on.

SBS have provided many a great memory in my TV viewing history.

Underrated network, which shows a great deal of respect to it's viewers. Apart from having a 10 minute program that allows viewers to write or ring in with their opinions and have them played or read out on television, (and no, they're not all love letters to SBS...) they also have the courtesy to run little messages on the bottom when there is a change to the schedule or a program is running overtime (i.e. last year's Eurovision). They also don't throw in countless encores of pilots for their new shows. :D
I also don't think it deserves the 'only for perverts' reputation it seems to have. :|[/quote:f2e5abf889]

Yeah i agree but the perverted bit is good. :P Anyhoo they have countless good shows and exceptional news and current affairs coverage. :)

My only 'gripe' with SBS is that by the time they show new episodes of South Park the topical nature of the episodes expired months ago.
Modest to the top.

They don't have the money for heavy advertising, OJ, but TV Guide's do quite often mention SBS stuff. But if you don't watch ANYTHING on the channel, then you can't blame the network for you not knowing anything about their shows. Even if you only watch one show (South Park? Mythbusters? Rockwiz? Insight? etc etc), you get a grasp of what else the network offers. They put a lot of advertising for their programs in between shows.

But expecting full-page advertisements in the newspaper or something is out of the question... :|

I love SBS. Probably my most watched network (because i d/l most of the shows I watch, so no need to watch too much FTA).

I'll always try and watch any Asian movies they have on, especially when they show the occassional anime. It's the cult channel basically, and that's the way I like it.

RAN was absolutely brilliant - is it nominated for any Logies this year?

the last few weeks they've also been running some terrific Aussie 1 hour dramas in that Thurs 8:30 timeslot (i watch my LOST eps fresh off the net!)
