[quote:e02aa5f9b8="sherry is alive"]thanks a bunch for that dan. i knew details were coming out soon, but you saved me the trouble. it is sound pretty darn cool. although i have to say, i think it would be even better if they added in an online mode that allowed you to fight ppl over the net.

either way, i'm excited about the new tekken release :D[/quote:e02aa5f9b8]

No worries. An online game mode would be great! Gamespot have released a few images (actually about 240):

ok, I've bitten the bullet and bought a Nintendo DS!

In the end the PSP was just too expensive to justify buying. My next gaming expense will be the XBOX 360, boy that's gonna be costly!

Nice one. What games(s) did you get?

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max for PSP arrived today, which was a nice surprise, and good value at $55 (considerably cheaper than the still unreleased Australian version).

The little I've played seems quite promising. It appears quite indepth and challenging.

-8 Difficulty Settings
-Multiple Speed Settings
-Approx. 40 Characters
-Large Number of Game Modes

2D fighting at its best...

All I've got so far is Mario Kart, but I've been borrowing mates games and I'm deciding what's next to buy, there's supposed to be a good RPG coming out soon.

Sorry if this is becoming a DS topic!

News out of Tokyo

[quote:5310e47dc3]SONY has teamed up with Skype to enable users of the PlayStation Portable handheld video game system to make free or low-cost phone calls around the world.

In the latest move by the electronics giant to try to broaden the appeal of its consoles amid fierce competition with rival Nintendo, Sony said the new service would be available in late January for PSP-2000 owners.

After a system software update, PSP users will be able to chat for free to other Skype users and, for a charge, call landlines and mobile phones anywhere in the world, Sony said.

Sony said the move was designed to "promote the expansion of the PSP platform as a handheld entertainment system to enjoy a variety of interactive digital entertainment".

Skype, which was bought by eBay in October of 2004, uses a peer-to-peer network to enable users to make free internet telephone calls to each other through their computers.

Skype calls "out" to standard or mobile telephones can be made at low rates.

Sony, which changed the way the world listens to music with the Walkman, is trying to regain its cool credentials after struggling in recent years against innovative new products like Apple's iPod and Nintendo's Wii.

BUMP! Whoa, it's nearly FOUR years since someone last posted in this thread.

I have me a brand new PSP.

I already had a Nintendo DS and was never going to get PSP until I saw a Harvey Norman catalogue and in it I saw the most beautiful PSP console.

It's turquoise in colour! Plus it came with the game LittleBigPlanet, a carry case/cover and a little screen wipe in the shape of a Sack Boy. Nice. :D

I can start playing in earnest once I get a memory stick for it.

Both of my kids absolutely had to have PSP's. I don't think either of the ones we bought them have seen the light of day in the last four years either. :snooty:

Hopefully PSPs will not be on the way out for a while yet. I hardly ever see PSP games etc advertised in catalogues any more.

PSP games are ridiculously cheap nowadays, and it's arguably more economical to purchase a PSP as you can find some terrific games (including recent releases) hovering around the $10-$40 mark (with clearance games being even [i:51581ef2fe]cheaper[/i:51581ef2fe] than that). Not long ago, I've seen some PSP games for as low as $1 and $6 at Kmart.

Compare that to the DS where premium games dating back to [i:51581ef2fe]2004[/i:51581ef2fe] are still selling at the $50-$70 price point. And the 4 year old technology that is the DS Lite is still selling for $200 RRP with absolutely no sign of a price cut. That said, I still enjoy my DS, however, considering that it's cheaper to produce games for the DS than for any other system (including the technically inferior Gameboy Advance ), and its mass install base, the high cost of DS games is excusable.

I thought I'd use this thread for this news as its basically a PSP but updated, there were updated versions of the original
and although its different its still pretty much the same kinda thing so I didn't think a new thread was needed.

well its E3 time and the new PSP titled PlayStation Vita has been revealed -

what do you think of it? Im not gonna get one, motion sensor
stuff doesn't appeal to me but it does look interesting.
