[quote:a6ca04ea4e="gayle"]Well, "my husband" sounds just a bit too formal (plus, that is what newly married chicks say at every opportunity to get up the noses of their still single-and-hating-it friends).

In the interests of (his) privacy, I don't give Mr Gayle's real name.

I guess, when I am tired of writing Mr Gayle, I revert to hubby. If you prefer, I can call him what I call him in real life, which is "my darling", or "El Gorgeous".[/quote:a6ca04ea4e]

My thoughts exactly. It's usually Mr Mo, sometimes hubby. I've called him lots of names in the past but only in the heat of the moment.

Isn't it a bit like calling the wife the 'Missus?" I don't object to that. Most people seem to know who you are referring to when you make such a statement and I really don't think too many people take offence to it.

And "Mr Jen" just sounds so wrong, makes it sound like I've got balls or something [/quote:bc8f2ad228]

I referred to my "other half" as Mr. Jay-el once and it did seem a bit odd. Weird.

It is quite simple - he is not a member of TVAus. It is for the same reason that even though I call people by their real names on MSN, I don't in threads, because they have chosen to have a nick.

In my case, because I have used my real name as my nick, it would be very easy for someone to put two and two together.

He is Mr Gayle as far as TVAus is concerned, or hubby for short.

I think Gayle's right. Using their name is just too personal. I mean it's not like we know them. So it would be weird for them to use it. It reminds me of the Mere Male section of whichever magazine it was.

I agree. No-one on here knows him, so if I called him by his name, no-one would know who I was talking about unless I then followed his name with "my hubby". And calling him Mr NewCrowsFan would just sound weird.

So if the husband is known as hubby, then if the wife meant to be called wifey?

Actually, Mr Gayle has been known to refer to me as "wifey", but generally I am referred to in formal situations as "my wife" and in informal situations as "girlfriend".
