I've noticed of late that 'the wiveys' on TVAus always refer to their beloved as 'The Hubby'. I'm not nitpicking, I'm just wondering why? Why not 'my husband' or 'James' (if that's his name).
It's so cute. :P

Well, "my husband" sounds just a bit too formal (plus, that is what newly married chicks say at every opportunity to get up the noses of their still single-and-hating-it friends).

In the interests of (his) privacy, I don't give Mr Gayle's real name.

I guess, when I am tired of writing Mr Gayle, I revert to hubby. If you prefer, I can call him what I call him in real life, which is "my darling", or "El Gorgeous".

I [i:160dddd00d]wish[/i:160dddd00d] I could answer with 'Because my husband is my slave and it saves time' but thats not true.
Reasons:
1. 'My dear, devoted husband' would be a lie.
2. As gayle says, my husband is too formal.
3. 'Hubby is much easier to type.
4. I am not telling anyone here his name.

I guess I could call him Mr E or Mr Mumpee but I'll stick with hubby as it sounds cute.

I refer to mine as "the husband" or just "husband" here and in real life, its a cutsie nickname that covers some of the other names i could call him, that i'm sure the sensors here wouldnt let me use.

Mr Goodness just doesnt sound right

"the hubby" or just "hubby" is easier to type, although sometimes I have typed his name. But I'm used to not mentioning him at work by name because the prisoners don't need to know my personal stuff, so I guess it's become habit
And "Mr Jen" just sounds so wrong, makes it sound like I've got balls or something

I put my hubby into a tipping comp on another forum, and he was mortified to see that he was on the list as Mr Gayle.

Even funnier, was that I was listed as Mrs Gayle
