Retired UK performer Liz Dawn, best known for Coronation Street has died, aged 77.

She died peacefully on Monday night.

Dawn, whose real name was Sylvia Butterfield, played Vera Duckworth on the British soap for 34 years, first appeared on Coronation Street in 1974. She remained on the soap until 2000, returning briefly in 2010 as a ghost.

American Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has died age 91.

He died peacefully at his home in Los Angeles, his son Cooper Hefner said via Playboy Enterprises statement.

Playboy magazine was founded more than 60 years ago to create a niche upscale men's magazine, combining images of nude women with in-depth articles and interviews.

Tom Petty, Heartbreakers frontman who sang 'Breakdown,' 'Free Fallin'' and other hits, has died at the age of 66.

Reportedly found unconscious at his Malibu home on Sunday night, Petty was rushed to UCLA’s Santa Monica hospital in full cardiac arrest and died Monday. For hours, multiple media outlets reported his death only to retract those reports; his death was confirmed Monday night by his family’s spokeswoman. A cause has not been announced.

It’s been reported The Saints drummer and popular music journalist Iain Shedden has passed away.

The punk drummer had been a solid member of the Aussie band, The Saints since the early 80s and forged a career as a music journalist, covering interviews with everyone from Fleetwood Mac to David Bowie for over 25 years.

Roy Dotrice, a veteran British actor, died at his London home on Monday. He was 94.

Dotrice was known for his role as Leopold Mozart in the Oscar-winning film Amadeus and his many theater and TV roles.

Irish comedian and television star Sean Hughes has died, aged 51.

The London-born, Ireland raised stand-up was best known for his time as a panelist on UK music quiz show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, where, between 1996 and 2002, he starred alongside Phill Jupitus and Mark Lamarr.

Hughes also starred in the UK sitcom Sean's Show, in the early 1990s, and he performed in cult Irish film The Commitments.

Rosemary Leach, the award-winning stage and screen actor best known for the films A Room With a View and That’ll Be The Day, has died after a short illness.

Leach, who also played Grace in the TV sitcom My Family, which starred Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wanamaker, was 81.
