Her popularity would be helped without all this internal bickering in the Australian Labor Party

Why is Julia Gillard so unpopular? She is a puppet! Can't think or do things for herself when it comes to governing Australia.

Julia Gillard is unpopular for the same reason that Kevin Rudd was - both went into office and failed to live up to their spin. A leader needs to be more steak than sizzle, and both sides of politics these days seem to more interested in simply staying in office/attaining office than actually coming up with well thought out, thoroughly investigated policies.

I think the interesting thing in all of this is what will happen over the weekend so that when parliament meets for the first time in the Budget session on May 8th 2012.

The immediate first thing will be that Peter Slipper will address the House before standing aside and handing the chair to the Deputy Speaker.

The next step is anyones guess. Will Tony Abbott move a motion of no confidence or will he wait until after the budget address? Will Julia Gillard be replaced?

So many questions.

how does one reply to such insightful political wit? Clearly there are some serious problems for the government, not least of which is continued leadership speculation (although that would appear to not be party specific). The budget, rather than being the main feature, became nothing more than an annoying political advert during the continuing soap opera of "days of our pollie lives".
