Currently, if you purchase anything from overseas that is worth less than $1,000 you are not charged any GST on that amount.

It seems that the Australian federal government is planning on abolishing that threshold and will charge you 10% GST on any item purchased from overseas that is worth $1 or more.

eBay are now saying that if this happens then they will ban Australian from buying anything from an overseas person or entity.

Not happy. Mind you, since I discovered www.wish.com I haven't bought anything off ebay.
They sell absolutely everything.
That's ridiculous charging GST on everything including something you buy for $1. A threshold should remain.
I wonder why ebay and Amazon would ban Aussies from buying. It wouldn't mean more work for them, would it?
