The AFL Footy Show:
Garry Lyon will not be returning to the show any time soon, due to him battling depression and an on-going feud going on with Billy Brownless. Rebecca Madden has been announced as Lyon's replacement as co-host, and her role begins next Thursday. I hope she fits in well.

The NRL Footy Show:
The show this year is now airing on Wednesday nights instead of Thursdays, due to the NRL being played on Nine on Thursday nights. The ratings for the show so far this year has been dreadful. I tune in and out of the show, and find it crap a majority of the time I tune in. At least the Sunday Footy Show is good. Nine should axe the Wednesday Footy Show and replace it with Footy Classified.

thoughts of both Footy Shows in the last year, anyone?

The NRL version won the Best Sports Program at the Logies this year. A shame, really, because I think the show has been stale for some time now.

The AFL version has a new addition - Craig Hutchinson. He replaces James Brayshaw. I think Hutchy is still trying to settle in, but its not working out at the moment.

Craig Hutchinson is gone as host of the AFL Footy Show. Eddie Maguire is to return as host this week (or is it next week?)

Channel Nine has axed founding host Paul Vautin from the Logie-award winning The NRL Footy Show as the program undergoes its most dramatic overhaul in 24 years.

Footy Show executive producer Glenn Pallister this week told Vautin, who is holidaying in the US, the show would no longer exist in its current format and he would not be a part of it. Vautin has one year of his contract to run and is likely to spend it in the commentary box calling matches.

It appears as though the fate of the NRL Footy Show is sealed, with Darryl 'The Big Marn' Brohman confirming that he will not be returning in 2018.

As it stands, Brohman was off-contract with Nine at the end of this year.

This is long overdue ... it should or he should have been axed a long long long time ago.

Now, if we can get rid of that obnoxious Sam Newman then I will be happy.

NRL Footy Show signs Ryan Girdler

Former Kangaroos, NSW Blues & Penrith Panthers player, Ryan Girdler, is joining the new-look NRL Footy Show.

He will join the panel fulltime alongside Andrew Johns, host Erin Molan and regular contributors Darryl Brohman and Beau Ryan.

Andy O’Brien, Executive Producer, said: “We’re thrilled that Ryan is joining The Footy Show. Ryan’s contributions over the years are well documented, from the early days on the panel to presenting his extremely popular Their House segment.

“What you see is what you get with Ryan, a good-humoured, good-natured, knowledgeable and experienced thinker. It’s great to have Girds talking footy on Nine.”

Nine’s Head of Rugby League, Simon Fordham, said: “At Nine we are all about creating ‘the best seat in the house’ for our viewers, and our rugby league experts are what set us apart. Ryan’s playing career is exemplary, having competed at the highest level over many years. Coupled with his likeable nature, it will make him a valuable addition to our rugby league lineup in 2018.”

Ryan Girdler said: “I’m really excited to be joining The Footy Show and for me the timing feels right. I can’t wait to talk footy with some of the greatest minds in the game on Nine’s commentary team every Thursday night in what is shaping up to be a huge NRL season.”

This year’s Footy Show is yet to detail format changes following plans for a late night Thursday timeslot and the exit of longtime host Paul “Fatty” Vautin.

Girdler will make his fulltime debut on March 8th.
