Well, it's that time of year again. The race that stops the nation, as it is known by some, is on this afternoon at Flemington Racecourse at 3:00 pm AEDST.

Who will win? Who will place? Surprised just how many international colts and fillies are in the race. Doesn't look good for keeping the Cup in Australia, with only two runners being from here (plus 5 from NZ).

Cavalryman a late scratching from today's Melbourne Cup.

ETA:- Admire Rakti - the pre-race favourite - has collapsed and died in its stall after fading badly and finishing last in the Melbourne Cup. :-( RIP Admire Rakti. He gave it his all.

is sad to see not one, but two horses die after the big race.

I didn't like how the second horse died. Some fan was waving a flag in front of this horse, it got scared and hit the fence. It was easier to put the horse down as the injuries were bad

:(

The "race that stops the nation" is on again this afternoon. I guess there's no TVAus Sweep this year; because there's now not enough time to get participants and allocate horses. Here are the runners anyway. Hopefully we don't have any incidents like we did last year with two horses dying or having to be put down.
