I am so excited at the moment. I just found out that my long time friend who I meet in school a few years back has just made the Wallabies team.

This could not have happened to a more deserving bloke. For years we were saying one day he would play in the green and gold and he never believed us!

[quote:149c118f02]The Australian Rugby Union has confirmed the sacking of Wallabies coach Eddie Jones following the team's disastrous 2005 season.

Jones was officially dumped on Friday with Australia having won just one of its last nine Test matches.

ARU boss Gary Flowers announced the news at a media conference, saying that he believes the team needs a fresh face at the helm.

"Professional rugby is a result-based game - one win in nine matches is far from satisfactory," he said.

"This is a very difficult decision, but the ARU strongly believes we must give the Wallabies a fresh start with a new coach who will give us the best possible chance of future success."

"While the ARU board has decided to search for a new coach, we also recognise that Eddie Jones has made an enormous contribution to the game."

Jones was under contract until after the 2007 World Cup but Flowers said an immediate change was deemed necessary.

"We will now be able to move forward and get on with the job of searching for a high calibre head coach to lead a coaching team that will get the best out of Australia's elite rugby players.

"This is not an easy decision, but it is in the best interests of Australian rugby."

A new coach has yet to be named but with Australia's season finished, an appointment isn't expected until next year.

NSW Waratahs coach Ewen McKenzie is believed to be the leading contender, although Flowers said that a panel of experts will be formed to find the right man for the job.

Jones took over from Rod Macqueen in 2001 and led the Wallabies to the World Cup final in 2003, where they lost in extra time to England.[/quote:149c118f02]

My apologies if a thread like this already exists, but I didn't see one in the last couple of pages.

Bledisloe game 2 is on tomorrow night and I am slightly confident for a Wallabies win. [i:0775b47226]That is[/i:0775b47226] if our forward pack is reasonable and we can keep 15 on the park for the whole game. I'm tipping them by 7.

What does everyone make of all the controversy surrounding the new All Blacks Haka?

Even disregarding the throat slitting gesture I don't think 'Kapa o Pango' is anywhere near as good as the original 'ka mate'. It's just not as fluent or catchy.

Remaining Tri-Nations Games

29-07-2006 8:00pm Qantas Wallabies v All Blacks Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
05-08-2006 8:00pm Qantas Wallabies v Springboks Telstra Stadium, Sydney
19-08-2006 5:30pm All Blacks v Qantas Wallabies Eden Park, Auckland
26-08-2006 3:00pm Springboks v All Blacks Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria
02-09-2006 3:00pm Springboks v All Blacks Royal Bafokeng, Rustenburg
09-09-2006 3:00pm Springboks v Qantas Wallabies Ellis Park, Johannesburg

There isnt kudos for starting one, i dont like wallabies chances to win the tri-nations things will become derailed when they hit south africa, although with the current form there is a good chance that they will be beatable though.

I think sadly new zealand will win with wallabies coming second and the boks getting the coveted woodenspoon. :P

now that out of the way GO THE WALLABIES!

Does anyone (besides sponsors and official broadcasters) actually call them the "Qantas Wallabies"?

No. I hope not anyway :D I just copied that list straight from the ARU website. It's lame I know.

Typical Channel 7! Apparently they are showing "The Sound of Music" for the millionth time. Thank god for Foxtel.

I also think New Zealand is pretty much assured of the Tri-Nations title...again. It basically all comes down to who can win away from home and on current form I think NZ are most likey to do so.
