and in a turn-up... pre-tournament favourites Japan have had their tournament ended in soccer's equivalent of Russian Roulette

wow, I just found out a few minutes ago that Japan lost. That was a surprise.

But it was in the dreaded penalty shootout.

The same happened to the other game. Iraq beat Iran in a penalty shootout.

So the Semi Finals look like this:
- South Korea v Iraq - Monday (Australia Day) at Stadium Australia
- Australia v Unite Arab Emirates - Tuesday at Newcastle
(winners to go into the Grand Final.... Derrr!)

Nothing worse than a penalty shootout

It proves nothing

anyone explain why australia vs the uae is on tomorrow (and not tonight?)

Its a public holiday

what more? Its played at a smaller stadium, whereas the other semi is on tonight at the bigger stadium

Whoever made the scheduling at the AFC must have been thinking it was Opposites day

The games were scheduled a while ago, and cant change it willy nilly.

if Australia had come first in their group (which was expected), they would have played today at Stadium Australia.

However, they came second in their group, meaning their game was scheduled for tomorrow night at Newcastle.

But I so wish the game was on today instead, and played in Sydney. Would have been my ideal choice. Although its the luck of the draw, the game will now be against Nick Kyrgios Quarter Final match at the tennis. I hope there is an audience for the soccer tomorrow night.

Weather is not good
As a continuance to the cricket in Sydney yesterday, which forecast drizzle (it 'drizzled' 29mms to 9am this morning)

Although Australia should have an advantage with the wet weather conditions over the Emirates, because, it never rains there in the middle east :p

my mate got tickets to the Asian Cup Final (Australia v Korea), so I decided to go with him and with another of our mates.

What a game, and nervous game. The referees weren't all that friendly to us, I say!! When we scored our first goal, it felt awesome. With around 5+ minutes prior to the Korean goal (in the last minute of the game!), it felt electric. The crowd was roaring. Haven't felt like this at a sporting game for a while. Then BAM, Korea scored!. Was gobsmacked. So close of us Socceroos winning, and it was taken away from us. Luckily, we scored in extra time and won.
