I dont think there is a thread on this already but if there is, jsut emrge them ;)

Im not too sure on this but according to the official websites qualifying mathes have alrady begun? I had no idea lol. Australia play next on the 16th of August in Sydney against Kuwait.

Here are the groups for the qualifictation stage.

[b08]Group A [/b08]
Japan - Played 1/Score 3
Saudi Arabia - Played 1/Score 3
Yemen - Played 2/Score 3
India - Played 2/Score 0

[b08]Group B[/b08]
Iran - Played 1/Score 3
Syria - Played 1/Score 3
Korea Republic - Played 1/Score 3
Chinese Taipei - Played 2/Score 0

[b08]Group C[/b08]
UAE - Played 2/Score 6
Oman - Played 2/Score 3
Jordan - Played 2/Score 3
Pakistan - Played 2/Score 0

[b08]Group D[/b08]
Australia 1 3
Kuwait 1 1
Bahrain 2 1
Lebanon 0 0

[b08]Group E[/b08]
China - Played 2/Score 3
Singapore - Played 2/Score 3
Iraq - Played 2/Score 3
Palestine - Played 2/Score 3

[b08]Group F[/b08]
Qatar - Played 2/Score 6
Uzbekistan - Played 2/Score 3
Hong Kong - Played 2/Score 3
Bangladesh - Played 2/Score 0

I think its 3 points for every win and a draw gets you 0 points.

Anyway this is about the only action Australia will play until the World Cup 2010 as a national team.

I think also due to the War, Lebanon has pulled out. 12 teams qualify to play in the actual Asian Cup.

I remember the clash against bahrain, i remember the feed kept cutting out from bahrain, was a strange match to watch.

We should easily qualify for it, unless all our players get injuried or somehing, i can't see how we can stuff it up.

Id say Japan and Korea would be our biggest threats.

i thought that SBS has coverage of Australian soccer games until the end of the year, and then it's over to Foxtel and SBS has the next 2 world cups (2010, 2014)

Good luck with Australia in the Asian Cup
