Argh this place frustrates me, i got one of those $20 voucher things again and it says to open iTunes music store, which i did, and then it says click on Tunes Music Cards...
Well there isnt a button with that on it, so were they lying or something? you'd think they'd make it easier.
anyway, anybody else use the music store?

[quote:9293cb59ea="smh.com.au"][b:9293cb59ea]iTunes shunned by iPod owners[/b:9293cb59ea]
[i:9293cb59ea]Louisa Hearn
September 19, 2006[/i:9293cb59ea]

Owning an MP3 player is no guarantee that you will become an avid buyer of digital music according to a new study which reveals that more than 80 per cent of iPod owners do not regularly download tracks from the iTunes store.

The study, conducted in Europe by Jupiter Research, found that free activities such as ripping existing CDs onto the device and sourcing free legal and illegal downloads strongly outnumbered the purchase of tracks online.

According to Jupiter, the global base of iPods sits at about 60 million, putting the total number of tracks downloaded from iTunes Music Stores (iTMS) at about 20 per device, down from a previous high of 27 in 2004 when a number of new stores opened.

The figures were even worse outside of Apple's domain, said Jupiter, with iPod owners not only buying more legal music and video downloads than those with alternative music players, but also participating less in illegal file sharing activity.

That said, Jupiter's study revealed that digital music buyers - whether they use iPods or other MP3 players - did not generally stop sourcing content from illegal sources once they had begun purchasing legitimately online.

"Digital music buyers do not necessarily stop file sharing upon buying legally: 40 per cent of digital music buyers also file share. Significant portions of digital music on portable music players owned by file sharers will likely also include illegally sourced content, even if the owner buys digital music legally," it said.

About 30 per cent of the iPod owners participating in the study admitted they sourced free music illegally from a file sharing network at least once a month, while 23 per cent said they downloaded free web based audio from legal sources. This compared with only 17 per cent who said they purchased digital music on a monthly basis. In addition Jupiter found that only 10 per cent of respondents bought a digital album on a monthly basis.

The researcher said these findings might "confirm some music industry fears of iTMS customers 'grazing' on singles rather than buying complete albums".

"The net result of the 'grazing' trend, at its extreme, is a wholesale deconstruction of the carefully constructed album model, around which record labels have knitted their core business model over the last three decades," Jupiter said.

It suggested record labels might be able to redress this imbalance in the future by packaging a number of downloads together with music video and mobile content.[/quote:9293cb59ea]

No itunes took me forever to figure out as well, don't worry ;) Nothing concerned with computers is ever easy. Honestly, it took me all afternoon to figure out and install and download and everything...it was so frustrating. I was ready to throw the computer out the window! I was on msn going 'Anyone who owns an ipod and has used itunes...TALK TO ME!!' cos I needed so much help

I'm so pissed at the music store... all their videos are now 640x480, but I'd have to pay again if I want to download them again at the higher resolution. And they don't have any mention of AC/DC in the music store. And you can't buy the Veronicas videos in the Australian Store, but you can in the American store! Grr. :snooty:
